Couldn't find a better section to post this under. If this needs to be moved, please let me know.

If there are any Disney LEO's or security officers that read these boards, can you please send me a private message? I'm a South Carolina LEO who will be down there in a few days and would like to ask a question. Thanks.

I a Maine LEO and I think I know the question you want to ask and I have the same one. If it has to do with the LEO Safety Act pm me and let me know what you find out.

I do believe WDW is a no carry zone...at least that's what I've read. I've also heard that security has a drop off area. Hope that helps a little.

Weapons of any kind are not allowed. That is posted on the WDW FAQ section on their web site.

Last time I heard WDW is a no weapons zone for everyone. CMs and guests. If you don't receive a pm I would suggest contacting the Orange County Fl sheriffs office. They should be able to assist.

This is correct :).

Just FYI, I was already aware of the weapons policy. My question is of a different nature. Appreciate the responses but figured I'd save folks time on future posts by clarifying a little.

everyone on here is nosey, so we will keep on guessing :rolleyes1

have a great trip!

I wouldn't necessarily say nosey....

curious, Definately. But Nosey... not as much of a given.

for instance... I subscribed simply because I'm curious what kind of issue might prompt a non-local LEO to inquire about how to contact Disney security prior to their vacation. I'm not going to pry if it's not something for public consumption, but if it comes out it might provide some interesting insight into issues our "men and women in blue" deal with that we aren't always aware of.

Hell... for all we know, maybe he just wants to find out how to get a job as one of the undercover security within the park so he can spend more time in Disney. :goodvibes

may or may not apply to your question, but just to clarify, Disney does not have a police force to speak of. Security hosts (official title at WDW) do not carry and do not have police powers (they are allowed to pull over speeders, but I believe that's the extent of it). When TWDC formed the RCID, the charter declined any sort of police force, so all police action is carried out by the sheriffs departments of Orange and Osceola counties.

From WDW:

1. Head east on Center Dr toward Floridian Way

2. Turn right at Reams Rd

3. Turn left at County Rd 535/Winter Garden Vineland Rd

4. Turn right at Chase Rd/Lake Sawyer Dr

5. Turn left to stay on Chase Rd

6. Turn left at Main St

7. At the traffic circle, take the 1st exit onto E 6th Ave

8. Continue onto Conroy Windermere Rd

9. Continue onto Conroy Rd

10. Turn left at Millenia Blvd

Destination will be on the right

Krispy Kreme Doughnuts
4080 Millenia Boulevard, Orlando, FL 32839-2426‎

:lmao:

Sorry...Couldn't resist.

oh a cop, a police officer. never heard it called a LEO

The OP is trying to be really discreet. Maybe he is undercover and tracking a fugitive that is working as a CM under an assumed identity. (Probably one of those Warner Brother characters.)

alot of cms are shy except for bus drivers and certain other cms on these boards. if it about getting ajob with disney you have a good chance since they like to hire people who are train in law enforcement. If you like a good job at disney become a k-9 officer they hire over any one else. But i do recomend working for the fedreal police they have great benifits and they only take current or former police officers. They onl thing is you have to put in 6 months at a va which is not bad nice easy place to work get great benifits and get a chance to meet the big wigs in washington when they visit. they also pay well and you cant be fired.

It's mostly used as shorthand within groups who deal with them. The general public usually just uses the more informal terms like cop, police officer, etc. You can sometimes hear it on some of the legal TV shows when refering to an officer. (Such as NCIS will refer to the "local LEO's", or some courtroom shows will use the term.).

You may also hear the term "LEA", which be for a Law Enforcement Agency.

Again... for most "normal" people, you don't have much reason to use the terms because your interactions tend to be with a single group (either sheriff or town/city police) vs those within the community who might have a reason because they deal with multiple jurisdictions and agencies within their job.

Does cop stand for anything?

Oh and is there really a krispie kreme there?!? We don't have ANY in NJ and I love their glazed donuts! When DH and I went to Vegas we had them every day!!:rolleyes1

my understanding, which could be part truth, part urban legend, is that the term "Cop" came from the badge.

Police/Marshalls/Sherriffs traditionally have worn a badge to help signify their position. At one time copper was one of the primary metals used in the manufacture of these badges. As a result, people would refer to them as a Copper. Over time, it was shortened to Cop.

Again, I can't say how much this story is urban legend. But then again, there are many terms in the American lexicon that have been around for so long that their origins are equal parts urban legend, meaning lost to time, and fact.
