Looking for a Disney cop for a question

You do not understand what I say. There are situations to resist and do not resist. Rapist already a threat to your life, you fight as much as you can. There are ways for women to apply some technics that can actually help. Point is, you do not try to fight rapist, you are dead. You try to fight someone for $20, you are dead. Every situation is unique. My sister was 7 months pregnant whe she entered her building and 2 men grabbed her and pointed knife at her belly. You think she had to fight for justice? She gave them whatever she had just to stay alive. Thanks God they did not pushed into her appartment as she could be dead right now. No LEO was around as bad guys choose their battles carefully and no gun she could have would not protect her from a quick knife slice and she would loose her baby and possibly her own life. I do not propose people to stay inactive but choosing your battles is a key to survive and this is all that matter.
I think your point is that there is never a time when having a gun could save your life. This point to me is absurd. Of course if someone gets the jump on you and has a knife to your throat, you're in a bad spot. And if you have a gun on you, this is certainly not a time to make a move for it. It is time to comply and try to defuse the tension. On that we agree. However, if the bad guy turns his back, or creates enough distance, I feel it is your moral duty to then use your weapon to neutralize the threat he poses to you and society. I've personally witnessed two potential crimes be thwarted by the presentation of a firearm. Bad guys don't like daylight, witnesses OR armed citizens.

No, my point was exactly what I said, nothing else.I do no generalize saves or doesn't save.I pointed there are different situations. However criminal aren't afraid of citizens with guns they shoot before you will have a chance. And what we really can argue about is what you call moral obligation to society to stop criminal. Sorry but if someone feels such obligation, join the forces. The only obligation citizen has in this situation is to stay alive, we don't live in wild west after all. Report and let police do their jobs. And if you think you can safely for you and others use your gun, please do so, but please evaluate situation before you do, enough people were killed because of their so called heroism and pretty often with their own guns.

I Have nothing but repect for ALL law enforcement personnel......they lay there life on the line for all of uS!

That said, I see no reason why anyone needs to carry a firearm into the parks..............the Disney secuirty seems able to hande whatever comes up for 39 year now!

I would certainty hope this was not a ego thing???

In addition carrying a firearm on the attractions........roller coasters, etc.........it could get loose and drop out.(dont say they can't because I have seen a firearm pop out of hoslter on *COPS*). What if some fool idiot sees it and trys to take it??......now we have a whole new very dangerous situation!

NO.sorry.there can be no reasonable reason!.leave in a hotel safe or at home!

Just my opinion!

AKK

I very much understand your opinion and that is why I said I dont know that I would consider it even if it was allowed for all the reasons you stated and others. More than anything I was just curious also wondering about having it on the rest of their property (resorts, downtown disney etc) As for a concern about someone seeing it and freaking out that would not happen as there are ways to securely conceal it, however obviously I would not want to be going on rides and such. Hopefully Disney is not a place where one needs to worry about a problem however I think it would be naive for someone to think that it would not make a good target for a crazy person looking to make a statement.

While I do completely understand the "right to bare arms" part of our legacy, I do not agree with people carrying weapons constantly. In the line of duty, yes. Using personal fire arms to protect themselves and their property, yes. To just carry them around in anticipation of something is , well, overboard and not at all what the law intended.

Honestly, in my mind, it is a sign of insecurity exhibited by the barer. I don't want to be in the same room with someone with a firearm. I don't feel safer, I feel less safe. I realize that it is a matter of personal standards, but even attempt to come into my house with a weapon and you will be asked to leave. I don't need any Rambo's in my life and it is not welcome. I did carry a weapon when I was in the military, but when my days work was done, it was no longer a part of my personality.

JMHO!

Thank you for your military service and I respect your opinion but have to disagree. It is not a Rambo complex nor insecurity it is knowing that I have the means to protect my family if needed. Maybe it is just the result of seeing all the crazy things people do and in all sorts of places. While I do agree with most that Disney is not a place for a LEO or anyone to bring a firearm there are plenty of other places where it is IMO a good idea. If I were in the same room with you you would not know I had a firearm useless a terrible situation arose in which it was needed at which time you would be thankful that I did.

"To just carry them around in anticipation of something" is exactly the reason to do so. EMT's often carry med bags off duty (and if I need medical attention I'll appreciate it), fireman normally have a gearbag with them off duty, its the same type of idea I think.

For many officers carrying a firearm everywhere is part of a daily routine, in my rural are 95% of officer carry all the time as you never know when you may be the closest backup to another on duty officer. My department policy encourages you to carry off duty but requires that if you do 1) it must be completely concealed 2) you must have your department ID with you and 3)you must be qualified with the firearm you are carrying and 4) you must have a badge clipped on you or on a lanyard for quick display.

I can't believe this thread is still going! The same thing is being repeated over and over again.
I think people just need to agree to disagree.. it's a matter of choice. While a person may disagree with the prospect of carrying a concealed weapon, that does not mean the rest of the population should be required to agree. We see each other's point of view, and respect it. But no use in arguing, people will do as they please. ::yes::

What does this have to do with WDW? Moderators please close thread.
