Hey, we are driving down the day before reservations so we can get a quick jump start in the parks the next AM...does anyone have any ideas of where to stay thats pretty reasonable... just gonna be sleeping there, nothing fancy :teeth:

A few weeks ago on the boards there was talk about the Comfort Inn Lake Buena Vista. Folks were saying it is very inexpensive, but, very clean. It is located on Palm Parkway, which is very close to Downtown Disney (not within walking distance, but, very close). We stayed there many years ago (1988) shortly after it opened and while it was a budget place, it was clean then, also.

I was just going to recommend the same place, comfort inn on palm parkway. I am going to stay there in august for around $60 a night. It is a good location. There is many fast food places right there, a walmart a few miles down 535 and downtown disney is down the street as well.

Travelsaverguide.com has a coupon for Comfort Inn - Lake Buena Vista (1-4 people) for $49.95+tax but $10 higher on Fri/Sat and includes deluxe cont. breakfast (3/16 - 5/15 though) .. thats assuming its the address 8442 Palm Pkway ..

We arrived a day early last September and was in the same situation. We were planning on staying off site in a cheap hotel, but while having breakfast in Downtown Disney decided to see if one of the value resorts had a room for the night. We got lucky and got a room at POP for I think $79 or $89. It was worth the little extra money to stay on property and check out some places in Disney we've never seen.

I just booked the Howard Johnsons WEST for 44.02 for the one night.... found the deal on hotelscorp.com it was 10.00 cheaper than the listed price from the hotels website....

Thanks again everyone :grouphug:

This hotel is coming up on Hotwire.com for $37.00 a night, $49 after taxes. My sister and her bf are going to book it for this Sunday night before their cruise.

If you are driving you can stop at a rest plaza and get one of the coupon hotel books. There is a hotel, the Polynesian Gateway.... we've stayed there probably 12 times. It's very clean, the inside courtyard rooms are very tropical.... very resort like. The best part? We pay $24.95 a night. It's like 1/2 mile west of disney property on 192, just as close as AKL or AS! They do charge a $2 "resort" fee so you end up paying $30 a night.. but for what you get, it's awesome.

I guess i've let my little secret out now! They always have rooms available, if not at the $24.95 rate (which HAS been available most of the times i've called, even on the day of check in) but if they don't have the $24.95 rooms, they will offer you the next available price, I paid $34.95 the last time but it was still more then worth it. You can try to google the hotel if you want to try to call in advance... I just don't have the coupon book on me...

I just searched for the Polynesian Gateway and found nothing. Do you have anymore information you could give?

You are in luck, I was looking for something today and stumbled upon one of the travel guides that has the hotel in it. It's actually called the Hawaiian Maingate Inn.

It's a central number to 3 different hotels called enjoy Florida Hotels so when you call you ask if there is any availability for the $24.95 rate at the Hawaiian Maingate Inn. If they say no, ask what the best price they can give you is.

Thanks for posting! I looked at tripadvisor and with the past month or so, it's got 2 bad reviews. When was the last time you were there?

I honestly can't believe it has bad reviews. I am a hotel snob, I prefer deluxe hotels on disney propery... I can't stand motels. But I really do promote this hotel, it's got the most friendly staff, it's VERY clean and great location. Can't imagine what people could complain about. The last time I stayed there was in January, but like I said.. i've stayed there 10-12 times. Believe me, if it were unacceptable in any way, I would not have stayed there this many times.. I really am a hotel snob.

Thanks for the great tip about the Hawaiian Inn Maingate. I needed a place for 5 people and can book this for the one night I needed a place to sleep for less than $40! What a deal!
Thanks

I'm not a hotel snob by any means believe me I've spent 1 night in many 2nd rate hotels. The Hawaiian Inn Maingate being among the worst I've stayed in. DH and I stayed here 1 night last Aug before going into disney. The room was very very poorly laid out with just the 2 of us in there we was constantly on top of one another and we wasn't rollin in the bed either;) The beds was horrible old worn out mattresses that really sank badly. Hotel was in need of some refurbishment but the dirty carpet didn't bother me near as bad as the poor lay out of room it's self.

Maybe it was because we had a smoking room in smoking section. This is one hotel we won't be stayin at again that's for sure. We will drive a block or 2 further and try else where. Granted it was close to disney but the parking lot was a nightmare to get registered think the Black Angus resturant had something to do with that.

BTW we was gonna try the Black Angus but wait was much to long we should have registered to eat right after we got room then went unloaded car then went back down and ate. It was like 8:30 pm we was tired an hungry and sure didn't feel like waitin an hour for a table.
