I usually read mystery/thrillers but I'm in the mood for something different. Going to the library in a bit, any recommendation?

Thanks!

How about something by Nicholas Sparks? I just finished reading A Bend in the Road which was really good.

Have you read Black & Blue by Anna Quindlen? My daughter had to read it last year for summer reading (high school) and I read it after her. It was a great book. :thumbsup2

I'm almost finished Sahara by Michael Palin. It's a great book , and they just aired the series on the Travel Channel :)

How different? If you want to try Sci-Fi/Fantasy check out something by Terry Brooks.

I just finished Queen of Babble by Meg Cabot. It was pretty funny!

How about my novel?? Think the First Wives Club meets Dirty Harry! It's called "The Exchange" and you can order it on Amazon.com or Barnesandnoble.com

Historical Romance Fiction - The Outlander series by Diana Gabaldon, these are a giant step up from bodice rippers

The Time Traveler's Wife by Audrey Niffenegger

Memoirs of a Geisha by Arthur Golden, I haven't seen the film so can't compare the two, but I LOVE the book

Silly light summer reading - the Shopaholic series by Sophie Kinsella

Orbit by John J. Nance is the best book I've read in a long time. I recommended it to my Mom and she agreed. It's about a man who wins a ride on a commercial spacecraft in the not-too-distant future and how he changes when the spacecraft is hit by a small piece of spacejunk, leaving the pilot dead and the man unable to communicate with the ground personnel. Unbeknownst to him, the "last thoughts" that the man writes on a laptop computer are discovered by people on Earth and being read in real-time with dramatic results. I couldn't put it down.

Have you read the Stephanie Plum series by Janet Evanovich? Great books!!!

I'm reading the The Memory Keeper's Daughter by Kim Edwards. I'm a usual mystery/thriller girl too and I love this one. A little different than what I usually read, but her writing style is just amazing.

My favorite book is The Eight by Catherine Neville. I've read it 10 times and still love it :)

If you are looking for something short yet very powerful
Check out 'The Five People You Meet in Heaven'
Most amazing book ever :goodvibes

The curious incident of the dog at midnight.

its amazing.

The Lovely Bones by Alice Sebold.

I agree with The Time Travelers Wife suggestion. REALLY good story.

Also My Sisters Keeper by Jodi Piccoult.

I liked "Water for Elephants" by Sara Gruen. I believe it's the best book of the summer.

I have read all of these, and they are very good.

One of my all time favorites is The Poisonwood Bible by Barbara Kingsolver.

I was initially not going to read it, because I thought it was a religious book, but it is fiction, and one of those books that I read within a few days because I couldn't put it down!
