Our parents will celebrate their 50th Wedding anniversary in November - they didn't want a party just a family trip with all of us. :grouphug: Guess what?? We chose Disney World! :cool1: We thought it was kind of neat that Disney was celebrating their 50th Anniversary at the same time. We are SO excited for this trip  as it is the first time for all of us! Does anyone know of anything that we could do at DW as a surprise for Mom and Dad for their 50th while we are at DW? Any other suggestions would also be great - there are 15 of us (8 adults and 7 children ranging from 3 - 19). We are going in November 2005.
Thanks!

Have you looked into having them renew their vows, while at WDW?

I know that you said they didn't want a big party, but this would be a small intimate vow renewal with added perks.

Visit the Disney Fairytale Weddings & Honeymoons website at:

Hopefully this will make your vacation celebration even more magical! ::MinnieMo

I second the idea of an intimate vow renewal. That would be really special.

Here are some other suggestions:

--Buy them a set of the Mickey/Minnie top hat and bridal veil mouse ears to wear.
--Treat them to a special meal (Artist Point, California Grill, etc.)
--Reserve an Illuminations or Wishes fireworks cruise (I think you would need 2 boats)
--Upgrade their room accommodations
--Treat them to a couple’s spa treatment at the GF or SSR spas
--Have a gift basket or flowers delivered to their room (www.disneyflorist.com)
--Order room service breakfast in bed for the two of them

a vow renewal would be a terrific idea. and you know what would also be great if you can do it: get a hold of a picture of their wedding cake and see if you can have it replicated by the disney chef's. wouldn't that be something for your parents to be cutting the same cake, not literally of course, that they cut 50 years ago?

other things to do that are special and not wedding related are tours and cruises. go to www.allearsnet.com for more information on things to do outside the parks.

like suggested do a specialty cruise the only 1 that could accomodate you on 1 boat would be the grand 1 yacht at the grand floridian which seats 16 for $300 or $350 hour to rent for a magic kingdom fireworks cruise. the firework cruises are amazing & well worth the cost. you could also do dinner on board through the grand floridian private dining or just a leisurely float around bay lake & the seven seas lagoon.

i would also look into registering as a grand gathering with online polls for your group & additional events you can purchase like the safari dinner & illuminations dinner & dessert party more info at http://disneyworld.disney.go.com/wd...s/ggLandingPage?id=GrandGatheringsLandingPage

another fun place to celebrate is the hoopdedoorevue at ft wilderness dinner show, they announce anniversaries during the show with some extra attention. you could also arrange a group event like a golf outing, spa treatments at the gf spa, fishing excursions, behind the scenes tour or disney fairytale wedding vow renewal. the options are there.

best of luck with your plans & congrats to your parents on 50 years. we'll be at the world in november too for our final wedding planning & tasting session.

you can also order a special gift basket or floral to be in their room from the walt disney world florists 407-827-3505. disney also offers personalized tshirts on their website disneydirect.com which you can personalize for the anniversary couple or your whole family. we purchased the happy couple code 16 & had them personalized for our wdw wedding this march for us, our parents & wedding party.

Another cake idea, have the Disney Pastry Chef's create a cake topper from their wedding portrait for an anniversary cake surprise!

My mom and Dad are celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary with a trip to WDW next July. Mom is in charge of this trip and they are treating us :teeth: The thing that Mom and Dad want most to do together is the hoop de do. So, the whole family will gather for this and to celebrate my wonderful parents marriage

I mentioned the vow renewal to Mom because I am in the earliest planning stages and she was not impressed with the idea for herself and Daddy!!!

Lisa, make the hoop-de-doo ressies NOW, I think it fills up a year in advance...

I would not go against them, but you might ask your dad seperately; your mom may think he might think it is silly.....

:jumping2:

Thanks for the heads up :goodvibes My mom is a big time lurker on these boards plus she has always been very Disney-wise :teeth: Soooooo, she has already booked and paid for the Hoop de do :sunny: I only hope I get as good as she is!!!

We loved the Wishes Cruise. Went with my sisters family and felt it was a special bonding time.Book 2 boats after a nice dinner at one of the Resort Restaurants ('OHana,Artist Pointe or one of the restaurants at GF).
