Looking at buying SSR. What can you do with 2005 points?

Actually I'm already a memeber but my sister is interested. I left a message for our rep today and he left a message back for me saying the current incentive is $8 off and that they would get last years (2005) points with the purchase.

My question is what can they do with those points? They aren't planning any trips since we are all going down to BWV in Dec. '07. I don't think these points will be of any use for our '07 trip. Can they transfer the '05 points they get from the purchase?

I am in the process of buying right now. My guide said that I have until July to bank my 05 points. I have a Sept UY. Once they have closed on the DVC, I believe that they can transfer them at that time.

They could always use them to go somewhere other than WDW or rent them to cover the costs of their initial costs of buying in.

I used my points for a cruise. that's different.

If they can't use them before they will lose them, I would rent them and use the $$$ to pay down the principal on the contract. But a cruise sounds good too!!! We decided to treat ourselves to a concerige stay at GF that we wouldn't have otherwise been able to do.

Are you planning any trips before then? Maybe she could transfer points to you and you could do the same for her is some future year.
