Hi,
We are going down to disney May 23- 28th. I just booked a room at P.O.R. because the reviews are great! I am now also looking at possibly renting points at the boardwalk villas. Does anyone have any advice on which one would be better to stay at. Does boardwalk have any place to eat a breakfast? Any advice and pros or cons to the boardwalk would be great. What is also the best area to stay in with little noise.
Any tips would be appreciated! :confused3

It's hard to compare the two. In my mind, it's hands down BWV. It has plenty of places to eat and you can walk to MGM or Epcot or take the boats. Transportation to AK and MK is by bus. The pool area is quite nice. There is no food court, however, like you have at POR. You have some higher end eateries-Spoodles (breakfast), Flying Fish Cafe, and you have the ESPN Club, the Big River Grille and Brewing Works and the Boardwalk Bakery(breakfast). There is a character breakfast across the lake at Beach Club. I have never had trouble with noise, others may disagree. The rooms are entered from hallways. There is regular and valet parking. Our first experience there, we were a but taken aback at the class of the joint... :bitelip: people opened doors, took our luggage, showed us to our room. Be advised that if you rent points, you may end up wanting to buy. We stayed at BWV in 98, went back to POR for one vacation and then bought at BW.

I agree that you may not want to stay at Boardwalk unless you're prepared to buy :lmao: ! We love it there. So close to Epcot and MGM, tons of activities on the boardwalk, great pools, just a blast :thumbsup2 !

One downside is that there are no cheap places to eat breakfast. But you can get muffins and stuff at the bakery, and if you're renting a DVC place, you'll have a kitchen. Our big problem is that DS loves pancakes, and only the expensive restaurants have them :guilty:

Don't know what deal you have for POR, but it may even be the same or cheaper to rent points for BWV, and I think it's a nicer place to stay.

I agree! Boardwalk does have it all! Pools are great, nice restararants, but like the other posters noted, be prepared cause once you stay there you won't want to stay anyplace else!!!!! Its such a great place!!!! Have fun!!!!

You might want to contact someone on the rent/trade board and see if they will look availability up for you. At this date, there may be nothing available at the BWV.

And almost certainly no standard view rooms.

As far as best place to stay without noise, you will most likely - assuming any availability at all, get a preferred view room. These will overlook the community hall, quiet pool, Swan Dolphin canal or the theme pool. The theme pool will be noisiest. However, view requests are view requests, and I've never had a view request granted yet at a DVC resort.

That's what happen to us, we rented a couple times at OKW, once at BCV, then at the BWV. Now we own at BWV, just love it there.

I would stay at Boardwalk if available. We were there for the first time in January and loved it. With the kitchenette or full kitchen (depending on unit size) you could do your own breakfast and not have to worry about finding a place to eat out.

You are talking about Memorial Day weekend and lots of schools in the South are out the week before. So you may have a hard time getting a reservation in March for the end of May. Post your request and see what comes up.

Once you stay at BWV, you may have real problems going back to the moderates. One word-BALCONY! I used to stay at POR all the time pre-DVC. Recently spent a couple days at POR (to save big holiday weekend points), and after spending several years on DVC balconies, I felt so cooped up in my room at POR. And if you can get a BW view balcony, that's awesome. I've heard others mention noise issues, but nothing's ever woken me up at night there. And for breakfast, I'm a bakery person, so I always go to Boardwalk Bakery the night before, get doughnuts or something, put them in the refrigerator, then I've got them in the morning, while I sit on my balcony with my morning coffee.
