Look what I've got

:yay:

I think we'll be there around the same time, how exciting! We haven't booked yet but we're going to very soon. :thumbsup2

Did you end up booking a package?

P.S. Still haven't got round to reading your TR- I haven't been on here for long enough lately!

I didn't book a package - I was brave and did DIY. Oddly enough, even though I need to book my own flights now, I am completely relaxed about this one.

Will you try and do SSR again or will you try something new? I was slightly tempted by OKW for an extra £200, but I really don't want the regular DDP. Besides, we so want to go back to POFQ, so maybe next time.

DIY is really straightforward. We did it for the first time in August. :thumbsup2

Although I like the sound of the refurb at OKW, I think we will do SSR again. We just loved how close we were to Downtown Disney. I know what you mean about the DDP- it really is an incredible amount of food. Tové would most definitely struggle with the adult DDP.

Oooo!!!!! A new ticker, wicked! :thumbsup2

I'm living my dreams through you just now, as I doubt I'll be back before 2013 :sad1:

Well done on giving up smoking, and what an incentive to have, a Disney holiday!

Thanks, you are more than welcome to hop on board and share the dreams. We probably should have waited until Easter 2012, but with my new incentive :rolleyes1, we should have just as much spending money as if we had waited. Going next year probably means skipping 2012 and going the following Easter (18 months between trips which is what we did for this last one).

Ohh congrats on booking again!! And doubly well done for giving up smoking!!

Great news (again!) My holiday has been approved at work by my wonderful boss :love::love: Time to flight hunt.

And of course, there will always be someone who doesn't like your plans ....

Boss said yesterday that nobody except me books holidays more than a couple of months out, usually less so no problem; just let my co-worker know.

So I just did. :rolleyes1 "But that's MY week!" Really? It's not in the diary for any past years aside from this one. I also wasn't aware that anyone laid claim to any fixed dates.

Have you made plans?
No, but that's MY week!
Can you not take a different week then?
I suppose I'll just have to.
Well to be fair, all my other leave is advertised to everyone in here as 'Happy to fit in with whatever you want'.

Sorry about the rant. I wasn't going to start a Rant Thread for something silly, but I was taken aback by this - yet again. Never mind, mine is approved.

I was minded to apologise for the inconvenience, but I don't want to lie, and I'm not really sorry about the dates I have taken.

Is this who you had problems with before Lee?

Some people just like to complain thru jealousy, is that the problem?

It is all the same, lol. I don't know. For better or worse, I struggle to stay annoyed so I am actually chuckling about it now. :lmao:

It will all calm down in a few weeks and be forgotten. She did mention she has a family wedding to attend in early September so I have probably done her a favour. If I had kept 'her week' free and booked at the beginning of the month, then what would have happened?

Anyway, it all comes out in the wash.

my husband has just had the same as hes taking a full 2 weeks off
his co workers asked why and when he told them they said maybe he should wait til he had paid for it before he put it down as florida is really expensive !!!
i couldnt believe it - we are only actually having to provide our spending money as my parents are paying for us to go as we had such a rough year with my brother being diagnosed with cancer and the fact that we didnt even get our honeymoon because we wanted to be together as a family !
sorry to rant on your page but sometimes i wonder what gives people the right to judge plans !!
keep up the no smoking i gave up in april when bro got ill and havent had one since !!!!
plus think of why youre doing it it will be sooo much easier lol

You are welcome to rant on my thread, rant as much as you like! :rotfl:

I was just annoyed because last time I gave 17 months notice for my leave and nobody cared. A few weeks before I flew out, all of a sudden it was "Not fair that you can announce your holidays at the last minute":confused3

Now I give a year's notice. "How can you book so far in advance?"

You just have to stick to your guns and tell your DH the same. At least with me my employer is perfectly happy and delighted about the advanced warning. But you don't need the stress of it all before you go away.

Oh I remember that from before - ignore them.

Like you say you are giving work plenty of notice and your boss ok'd it. If it's not taken on the calendar then it's fair game!

I'm just waiting for work to try and ban me and DH taking leave at the same time (we both work at the same place and effectively do the same job).

Grrrr I hate people like that. I agree with the jealousy theory. Just think karma :)

Well, it's a mystery. However I realised that no matter when I booked, there probably would have been something up for discussion. She's had a rough year or so, so I don't want to be unkind - it was just getting a little old when every time I had something exciting to report, it became a contentious issue. Probably just me not relating to it - I can't help getting over excited about other people's happy plans and news. Without meaning to I later got all enthusiastic about the wedding she is going to with tons of questions.

Oh well, there is always that "What? Florida AGAIN?" thing that comes up with plenty of people :lmao: At least we never get that on here - it's our safe haven! :thumbsup2

Well that would be completely unreasonable and I think you could quite easily win a dispute if that happened - on various grounds! ;)

This last time it did however turn out that my boss and I were away for one of my weeks, at the same time and that is not ideal, but she was great about it and said mine had been approved and it was not for me to worry about - go and enjoy! It's a small firm so one person being away does have an impact on everyone and I really love my job so being reasonable is a high priority for me. I think they know that.

The great thing about booking now is we are heading right into the busy festive season and I won't be sitting calendar watching until we are into the new year. Then ADR's, Easter, Summer Holidays .... and time to go!

This countdown is far more manageable than 18 months! ;)

I wouldn't mind so much but he does come in useful for the driving and carrying suitcases:rotfl2:
