Look What Delta Did To Us!!!!

Going off on a tangent but...

When a child (or adult) is ill involving a tummy ache or vomiting, s/he should fast until 6 hours after the illness is completely gone, or, after a day if s/he wishes cautiously eat just a little at a time. This reduces the duration of pain and also the amount of further vomiting.

This points out a significant disadvantage of purchasing Disney packages with meals. Even under ideal conditions it is difficult to eat your money's worth without danger of gaining weight.

I trust the airline did not charge you for the cost of cleaning the plane. Here is a valid reason for coach passengers to use the first class bathroom.

But that's my point...they didn't. You were originally on the cancelled 5:25 flight. The next nonstop flight MCO-BOS was at 7:00pm. Flight 2368. After that was the 7:50pm flight. I know it's all semantics now but it does raise a few more questions.

I feel for you. DH & I had a horrific experience with Delta last year and also swore we'd never patronize them again. I did write to them but all I got was a canned response and an offer for a $50 voucher. No indication whatsoever that they had actually looked into the problems or made changes to prevent a similar experience in the future. In fact, no direct comment on our points of complaint at all. Just an insincere apology and an offer to buy us off. Yeah right, for a $50 discount I'll put up with abuse, delayed/cancelled flights, and a compete indifference to accomodating customers they have subjected to this behavior...hahahaha...not likely!

Hopefully, given the terrible circumstances under which you were dealing with all this juggling around and booking of extra hotel nights, they'll do better by you. I really hope you fare better than we did...you deserve it. Your story just makes me even more determined to give the other airlines our business. I'd rather take a donkey than Delta.

Thanks for the info everyone! Thanks for putting up with my griping as well!! I did write a letter & as soon as it gets reviewed, I'll send it!

You're right GoldenOldie, we weren't offered the 7:00pm flight.... I would perhaps assume that plane was booked solid since the 5:25 was cancelled... Just a thought....

As for our DS, you guys WON'T believe this, but he still can't eat solids & now our daughter, as of today is throwing up EVERYWHERE..... This is even worse, she's only 3, whereas our son is 6 & he understands a bit better what's going on... I hope my DH & I don't get it!!!

How many days has he been getting sick? Have you spoken to his pediatrian? I'm always a worrier. Make sure he gets lots of Pedialyte. A classmate of my DD's got dehydrated and ended up in the hospital last year.

{ hugs }

Hi TinkerbellRules,

His situation started late Monday night, by Tuesday night, with the medicine, the throwing up ended, but then he had the other problem.... it's tapered to only when he eats a meal or something substantial... he is drinking liquids still, so thank goodness, I think he's over the dehydration stage.... He saw the ER doc, and we've talked to his own doc... it's just one of those things... a nasty virus.... I'll update if he can eat dinner!

I am sorry to hear that your experience with Delta was about as bad as ours was three years ago. My husband, son, and I flew to Las Vegas on free tickets. The second morning while eating breakfast, my 47 year old husband had a heart attack, almost died, and was in the hospital for 5 days of which 4 was in intensive care. We had to extend our stay by two days and it was an absolute nightmare trying to rebook our flight home. I fought on the phone everyday three or four times a day with everyone at Delta. They finally booked our flight home through three cities and it took us over 12 hours to fly back to Philadelphia. I tried to show the gate agents the letter from the hospital and doctor stating that my husband had to sit as close to the front of the plane as possible since he could barely walk after his heart attack. They refused to look at the doctor's letter and sat us in the very BACK of the plane for each leg. We were treated badly also by the electric cart drivers and run over by old people who were more able bodied than my husband when he tried to preboard. We travel a great deal and this is the horror story of all horror stories. I wrote not only once but twice to Delta and am still after all this time, angry. I even filed a complaint against them with the FAA. Just go to their website to obtains the address. All we ever got was a letter of apology and two travel vouchers for $200 even though three of us were on this god forsaken trip. I am with you--never fly Delta again. I have over 75,000 miles with them and I will not fly them again. Good luck with your complaint but don't count on any resolution that will satisfy you and your famil.

Yes, I did file with the DOT which is the only reason that Delta ever responded and offered the two vouchers. The trip was in June and it took until September to finally get a letter from one of the higher ups at Delta. The first letter was merely a form letter which basically said that they were sorry for the problems that we had coming home. That only made me more angry so I filed a complaint against them. This was an experience I will never forget and it was so unnecessary for the airline to have behaved so badly. When I told our doctor at home what had happened, she was also appalled. Thank goodness my husband made it home but Delta made it as hard as possible for us to do so. They really need to revamp their customer service. Of course that is no longer my problem but it is for those who choose to fly them.
