My adult son found a paint brush on Tom Sawyer Island when we were there a couple weeks ago. He brought it to show his brother and was just going to leave it when I told him it would get him some sort of prize. Since he was too embarrassed :rotfl: to turn it in, his sister did. They gave us a fast pass to use on SM or BTMRR. The CM's didn't keep it when we used it so we got to go four times in the fast pass line for all six of us. It was great. It certainly pays to look around for the paint brush. ::yes:: I wouldn't have know about it without these boards. Thanks to all for the great advice and tips. :worship:

Thanks for the tip. Glad he found it. Where did he find it? Does the location change?

Just subscribing, I'm curious too, sounds like fun. What time does the first float leave for Tom Sawyer island is it at 9:00 or closer to 10?

It is a regular size handle.. but with a large bristle area.. like the kind you would use to paint a fence.... all in the theming! LOL!! I actually found one finally during my summer trip. You MUST be on the first raft over to the island which departs exactly at 10:00 am... well.. usually... ;) But the brushes are usually all found within the first 1/2 hour or so that the island is open... I believe there are 3 all together. You should only take one if you do see more.. leave them for another family. You will not get more FP's if you bring more brushes.. and you only need one FP for your entire group.

Have fun searching!

One of my favorite pics from our last trip are the ones of my DH and DS with the paint brushes...and one of our favorite keepsakes is the pass we got for DS's fav rides for finding the paint brush! :cool1:

i was lucky this past july to find a paintbrush. we decided to take a break from the crowds and go over to tom sayers island. we all had some snacks at aunt pollys and i sat down in a chair and for whatever reason i looked up and saw a paintbrush in the rafters. i was suprised to see it because i thought i had read that they only out them out in the morning and once they were found that was it. i tried to look for my son but he wasnt there so i took the brush and gave it to him and told him if he turned it in he would get a prize. well we had a great ride on splash.

What time have any of you "finders" found your paintbrush? The last post sounds like they found it later than opening...

thanks,
agnes!

Oh, this sounds like fun! We'll have to keep an eye out.

Hello to Lesley! Always nice to come across another one of us!

I saw a paint brush on a bench near the raft landing dock last year at about noon. I was really surprised that a paint brush that was completely out in the open and so close to where everyone coming off the raft had to walk. I pointed it out to my DW but since it was just the two of us and DW doesn't do roller coasters or rides with big drops we just left it there for someone else.

Hello to you too Lesley - LOVE the spelling of your name : ) so funny how rare that is for some reason, people always assuming you are an "ie". :)

:cool1: thanks for the info. we have never taken the time to go on to the island.....were gonna have to make time this next trip. :flower3:

Th CMs are supposed to relieve you of the pass when it is used - I hope people don't get the wrong idea here and think they get an unlimited pass from the paintbrushes!

We found ours mid-afternoon, around 3 I think. The CM said he had hide three and ours was the last one found. I don't remember exactly which day it was, but I think it was January 4. I assumed the pass was good for one ride, but they kept giving it back to us. Finally a CM in the know kept it.

Do they decide which ride you get to use the FP for, or do they ask which ride you'd like to ride? If it's just roller coaster type rides that wouldn't do us much good. If we could get something like Dumbo it might be worth the "float" over. I don't think I've ever even bothered to go to Tom Sawyers. I finally took the big paddle boat in March, and it was b-o-r-i-n-g. LOL

Something to remember...the "paintbrush" program seems to come and go, sometimes it's running & sometimes it's *not*. Seems to be in intermittent thing, don't count on it being done during your trip.
I seems to remember before one trip I read about it, thought it sounded cool :) and then it was discontinued before our trip. I tend to think of the paintbrushes as a bonus for going over to the Islans, getting off the beaten path (especially with kids) and taking some time out to relax and not feel compelled to frantically run from ride to ride.

Speaking of Aunt Polly's...what type of menu are they serving there these days? Is it mostly snacks & ice-cream? (I think in addition to the snacks they used to serve meal stuff, fried chicken & sandwiches.)

agnes!

The Fastpass is for BTMRR or Splash Mountain. My best friend and I found a paintbrush last April, after preparing for the search the same way many people prepare for, oh, for example, getting Springsteen tickets. Happiest moment of our lives! (Well, in the top ten, at least!)

I have never heard of this at all!!!! I had no idea they did this!!! It pays to read these boards........... you find out all sorts of info that isn't widely published or known!!!

Thanks!!!

Aunt Polly's was closed when we were there. I think it's seasonly.
