Longest trip (days) you've done ? -- (July)

We usually go for 14 nights, stay at a DVC villa and do 8 park days and 2 universal days, or 10 park days with no universal. But we usually go in Nov/Dec. longer trips are nice, you can really absorb the atmosphere without running from ride to ride, and you don’t feel rushed. I’ve never been during the summer though, but I’d take a lot of swim breaks during the hottest part of the day.

2015 we did 12 days (plus travel day) mostly because I wanted as many Star Wars Weekend days as I could get lol! 6 days onsite, 2.5 at Universal, rest offsite at our timeshare. We would have gone crazy spending that long in one room so it was nice to have the 2 bed TS the second week. We would take long breaks in middle of day (except a couple SWW days-too much to do to miss any). Took a couple complete Resort days as well to sleep in and just recharge.

Planning 2weeks this June as well following mostly same pattern. We haven't been back to Universal since 2015, our APs for WDW run out in August so we are planning a good trip then taking a break for few years...

Longer trips can mean a much more relaxed and enjoyable touring style.

Yea-- was thinking of basically having 4 non-park days ---

We live in GA now, so we're close enough that APs make sense. But prior to that, we lived in PA and would fly down, so we only went every couple of years. We would stay 14 days and have a 10 day ticket. But we always bought the water park option. That gives you 10 days of the 4 main parks AND 10 days of water parks. So you could have 4 days where you don't hit the 4 main parks, but just do a water park. That would still leave you with 6 more water park days, so if on one of your theme park days you wanted to spend a few hours in a water park too, you could.

If you have a car, you could also spend a day or two at a place like Daytona Beach. We love going there. It's only a 1hr 15min ride at the most. For $10, you can literally drive your car right onto the beach and park. No need to lug chairs/toys from a parking lot 3 blocks away, you park straight on the beach...you can set up your blanket 50' from your car if you want. It's awesome.

I've done 14 days but for a trip that long I cannot stay in a standard hotel room. For those trips we stay off property in a two bedroom villa. Need a kitchen and a laundry room. We us the second bedroom to store stuff and keep the other rooms neat :)

If all goes well we will do this in October.

The 1st 2 trips we did we managed 8 days each trip. The next 2 we did 10 and 14 days. This trip we are doing 10 days at the parks and 2 days at Daytona Beach. We only do this every 3rd year or so. So I like to make them somewhat longer.

We do 10 days at the end of August w/9 or 10 day park tickets depending on what our 1 non Disney day is (we always add on something, beach day, gatorland, Kennedy Space Centre etc... If it's an offsite day that we'll be done before dinner, I add the 10th day and head to a park for a few hours in the evening. I'm not a fan of non park days, but we also don't do open to close every day. We have a somewhat relaxed pace and some days are full days in the parks and some just half days. For me, it's a perfect amount of time. So if you're doing 2 weeks, taking away travel time leaves you with 12 days and a 9 day ticket so you'll have 3 full down days. I don't think it's too long, if that's the concern. I personally would not have 3 days with no plans though, but that's my own preference.

A few years back we did 11 days, first 9 at Board Walk last 2 at POFQ. As we were in the cab going to POFQ wifey and I agreed that if we were to go straight to MCO that moment we'd have had our fill. We certainly enjoyed our last 2 days but we're not tempted to go that long again. The last few years it's been 9 days as it will be this Nov.

Think we are down to 2 "downtime" days now (in lieu of 4) - going to hit a water park and Uni for a day

Thanks so much !

9 Nights with hoppers, no completely "down" days. We may just do a few hours in a park on "laundry/pool" day.

Longest trip we did was August 2017 for 16 days. It was costly but amazing :cloud9:

I hear you on the costly part. This year (August) we are going for 18 days total. (16 days + 2 travel days) Planning on taking some time to really enjoy ALL of the AKL this time, then some park days mixed in, and some offsite stuff as well. The most we have ever done was 15 days total. That was a ball.

Costly... yes. But for all the memories.... it's priceless.
