I am realitively new to collecting Longaberger
and they are discontinuing my favorite fabric and really the reason why I started collecting Longaberger
as of 8/31/03 Woven Traditions Plaid will be discontinued
I love my plaid most of my lines are in this and I have it in my family room and kitchen. I have the seat cusions, valances, placemats, table runner, kitchen mitts, etc.
I am so disappointed- WAH
I know they discontinue stuff all the time but this is my pattern
guess I'll have to do some major buying through the summer to make sure I have everything I need before I have to buy off ebay and pay double the price

sorry for the vent

I just sold almost all my Longaberger baskets on ebay and made close to $2,000. It was truly a cleansing experience for me. :teeth: I was sick of collecting those baskets only to have them change the pattern on me.

I realize this is not making you feel any better, sorry! You could always try yardsales sometimes people don't realize their worth and sell them for practically nothing. You could get lucky!

thanks for the encouragement
glad to see someone actually gave up the habit
I still have the monkey on my back though
I have two baskets on order right now
the shame of it all

My dh would love it if I gave up my habit in buying Longaberger. That is the pattern my mom has so she needs to get a few liners before they discontinue it in August. I just had a show a sold over $1,500.0 worth. I was able to get a few basket for free. That's when DH doesn't mind but I go to a least 1 show a month.

Please educate me! I have heard about these baskets from time to time but what makes them so special and aren't they quite expensive for just a wicker basket? Don't flame me! I'm not trying to be rude I just really want to know!!! :D

Does Waverly still make all the Longaberger fabrics? (I used to sell them and at that time, all the fabrics were Waverly). The exact patterns are exclusive to Longaberger, but sometimes they have retail fabrics that are very similar.

Try a store that sells a lot of decorating fabrics, or look through the Waverly books and see if there's anything similar. You can always buy that fabric by the yard and have someone make the liners and accessories for you.

;)

You're not being rude. The baskets aren't wicker -- they're made of hardwood maple and are much heavier than other similar-looking baskets that you can buy. They're all handmade and they're signed (initials) by the weaver and the year that they were made is also on the bottom.

You have to see one and hold it to truly appreciate the quality of the basket. (Gosh, I sound like I still sell them, don't I?) But, they really are nice.

But, they CAN be an addiction -- I'm seriously considering following Snoopy's example and selling off some of my baskets. I really have more than I need.
