I have a collection of Longaberger baskets that I would like to sell and wondering if anyone knows a good place to sell them other than Ebay.

Thanks,

This would be a boost to our Disney vacation savings account.

Not as much of a boost as you think. They aren't "in" collectables right now, so you will not even get what you paid for them. I can find all I want at consignment and thrift stores around here for $10-30 for a complete combo.

Things come and go. If you like them, hang onto them until they are hot again. If they are clutter, let them go.

As with many other previously popular collectibles, I think oversupply and a limited number of collectors combined the internet/e-bay effect have made resale values on most Longaberger stuff negligible.

My SIL was planning on selling most of her collection, then she researched the going prices on e-bay. She said compared to what she paid, most of her items were selling for pennies on the dollar (and she was into LB big time in the day and had lots of higer priced and hostess items, etc) I think she only ended up selling one or two higher demand items, and is keeping the rest.

Don't feel bad though, I think the same is true of many different collectibles; Lladro figurines, Thomas Kinkade prints and miniatures, Hummel figurines, Norman Rockwell plates, anything Franklin Mint, and of course kid toys like Cabbage Patch Kids and Beanie Babies, etc, etc.

From an article I found on collectible values, or lack thereof:

"If you treasure one of these items, don't let the drop in value diminish the pleasure you find in it. If it tugs at your heartstrings, it's worth what you paid for it. Be content with that -- and don't check eBay."

Do you live anywhere near Oho? There are some stores in Dresden (Longaberger's "hometown") that buy and sell baskets and other Longaberger products. I haven't been in one for a couple of years, but last time I was there, the baskets seemed to be holding their value. It may be different now though.

I love Longaberger and have a big collection, but it's sad that the company is really struggling right now. They've even opened some retail stores, trying business that way.

I too would hold onto them and try other ways to help a Disney fund. (Garage/yard sale, resale shops ie Once Upon A Child, Play It Again Sports, etc., home prepared meals vs. take out, etc.)
