I’ve been reading these boards since we decided we wanted Disney in September, but haven’t felt like I’ve had enough to write until now. A little background, I’m Rachel, and my Fiancé is Bob. We’ve been engaged since the end of August, he completely surprised me since we had our first Disney Trip coming up in September, and I was convinced he’d do it there Coral Reef style or something like that. Anyway, we live in Brooklyn, NY (Park Slope to be exact) and he did it in the Laundromat. He always does the laundry, but we had a lot that day and so I didn’t think anything was weird when asked me to come to the Laundromat and help. He told me my underwear had just finished drying, and I could help by folding it. I opened up the dryer, and there, on top of all my underwear was the box. I’m glad he did it that way, otherwise the whole Disney trip I would have been anxiously awaiting it. The trip was over our 3 year anniversary and it just seemed like it would make sense.

Anyway. After getting back from Disney and having the best time ever (no lines at all) we decided that’s where we wanted to get married because we wanted all of our friends and family to be there and enjoy everything as much as we did. We decided Martin Luther King weekend, Jan 20th 2008 would be perfect because then people would be able to stay longer. We contacted Disney and got penciled in in November. Since then, we’ve been dealing w/ Diane.

Our ideal wedding would be around 100 ppl, ceremony at the WP, and reception at ADH. The year mark just passed, and Diane called us to let us know that 5 other people wanted WP that day and 3 others wanted ADH. She said they would do the lottery today and I’d find out tomorrow. I’m just devastated. I can’t even sleep. I put boardwalk reception hall down as my second choice, but then I don’t even know where I’d have the ceremony. Have any of you seen what a ceremony inside the boardwalk looks like? I’m nervous to have it outside, since it’ll be January and possibly cold.

I already have my dress www dot demetriosbride dot com/us/collections/illusions_prev/highres/3051b.jpg
I wanted to pick it out w/ my mother while I still lived up here. Bob and I are relocating to Charlotte, NC next month. I haven’t ordered it yet, just paid for it. They’ll take my measurements in May or June. And here is a picture of my ring flickr dot com/photos/chules/230476032/

Congratulations Rachel! Good luck with the lottery. Dont' worry too much about the WP - you might not get the time you want, but you could still do the wedding there and adjust your timeline for the day. We changed our time 3 times! (no one else was trying for the day we wanted so we had that luxury)

Another thing to think about is can you do the wedding on a different day and still base the trip around that weekend?

Good luck and happy planning!

The only day of the week ADH is available to rent for evenings is Sundays, so that was kind of what we planned everything around. I just hope everything works out. Who knows, I may get lucky...

I am sure that any wedding at Disney would be beautiful. Maybe really read the trip reports at the top and see if you can find a few ceremony locations that you guys love. Or talk to your WP about something totally unique. Just do some research and I'm sure you will find something great.
Welcome!

Congrats Rachel. So glad you decided to post!! If you ever need anything please ask...everyone here is so generous and supportive!:grouphug: You will become addicted to this instantly!

I love the box on top of the laundry thing.. so sweet!

Don't stress too much--Disney is huge and has many beautiful places to get married. Go on the Wishbook and see if any other locations appeal to you--perhaps the American Adventure Pavilion--that has a minimum requirement of 100 people, and would make for a great reception. ;) But I'm crossing my fingers for you!

We were originally thinking of AA, but we may be under 100. Infact, i'm hoping we're closer to 80, but both of our families are large and everyone seems so excited about it. AA looks like the most beautiful location. We decided on ADH since it wasn't in a park so we could use outside vendors for flowers and centerpieces. I also liked that we wouldn't need to do seating charts, since ADH has 4 person tables. Seating charts always seem like a real pain. PS, where in NC do you live, we're moving to Charlotte next month.

Congrats! Welcome to the board! Great dress! I am sure you will look amazing. I will keep my fingers crossed for you! Don't worry if you don't get one of the locations just like the others said they are many places in "the WORLD" to choose from. Everything happens for a reason. It will be magical nonetheless. Good luck!:bride: :groom:

Just got the call from Diane..... We have WP at 2:30 and ADH!!! I am so excited. I can't wait to start all the planning. Looks like it will be a fairytale after all.

Congratulations - that is wonderful news! And, :welcome: !

Congratualtions. So glad you got what you wanted! Let us know if you need any help planning!!!

Welcome! Your wedding plans look verrrry similar to ours! Me and DF got engaged in September at WDW and decided a Disney wedding would be our dream. We booked the WP at 2:30, followed by reception for about 100 people (we're hoping for about 70-80 as well) at ADH for 12/16/07...which is a Sunday just like you! AND, Diane has been our main contact person :cool1:

I'm glad the lottery worked out in your favor! MLK weekend sounds like a great time...you can enjoy the cooler weather and i don't think it will be too crowded in the parks at that time.

Congrats to you and your DF...maybe we can trade wedding ideas on here since we already seem to have some things in common!

Wow they are similar. We'll have to chat up and compare notes. I tried PMing you, but I don't have enough posts yet. Email me at rachelheartsart at gmail dot com
