Does anyone know what the daily rate is for long term parking at PHL? I went on the site and if I read it right it is $9.00 a day. Am I correct?

Yes. $9.00 per day is the Econo Lot rate. I used it many times. Never had a problem. The only drawback is you have to drag your luggage on and off the shuttle.

May I recommend Pacifico parking? I believe the rate is the same or even less - maybe $7.00 per day. You drive to Pacifico, check in, then a driver will drive you to the terminal, help with your luggage then take your car back to the lot and park it. They also wash it and vacuum it while you're away. Then when you get back to PHL, all you do is call them and they bring your car to you. It takes maybe 15 minutes for them to get you. Then you take the car back to the lot, pay and head home. We have used Pacifico about 6 times with no problems at all. It's great for us! Hope this at least gives you another option to explore.

Just use curbside checkin on the way to the economy lot. All you have to bring on the shuttle is your carryon. Of course going home you do have to drag it on shuttle or have 1person fetch the car while the rest of the group waits for what seems like forever.

We just got back last week and used Colonial Parking in Essington for the first time..total was $42.50 for 5 days, including taxes. It was great. We parked in their secure lot and waited maybe 2 minutes for a shuttle. The driver put our bags on the shuttle and we were at the airport within 10 minutes. For the return, we just went to baggage claim and as we collected our last bag my DH called Colonial's toll free number for pickup. The dispatcher directed us to wait in Zone 3 (which is basically right outside the SW baggage claim area) and a shuttle would be there momentarily. He was right......we were picked up within two to three minutes. On the return, the shuttle was a bit more crowded, but, still enough room for everyone to sit and plenty of baggage room. I would imagine they adjust the shuttle times for busier periods to avoid too much overcrowding. We were at our car and on the way home within 10 minutes after catching the shuttle. Total time from arriving at the gate to beginning the drive home.......about 40 minutes.....with approximately 30 of that waiting for our baggage. We'll definitely use them again. Their parking lot had secure fencing all around the perimeter and was well lighted and they run a 24 hour operation.

I have also used Winner valet and it was nice.
You drive from their site to the airport in your own car, so you only have to take your stuff out once at the airport. Then on your return, call them once you have your bags and they are there in minutes.
It isn't any more expensive than the lots and if you have AAA you get a discount. Also if you get those Valpack coupons they sometimes have cheap rates that include the taxes. They also accept competitor coupons too.
You also have the option on your return of paying extra and then you can leave straight from the airport without having to go back to their site to settle the account.

Its been a year or so since we have parked at PHL, we can now fly out of Allentown which is 5 mins from our house. But do a search in Yahoo Yellow pages around the Philly area for Airport parking. There are several very safe, secure private lots very near the airport. When we flew out of PHL just about a year ago, we found an online coupon for one of those private lots (sorry cannot recall the name) and we paid 5.75 per day. It was very near the airport. Their shuttle picked us up right at our car and it was less than a 5 minute ride to our airline. When we arrived back, we found their shuttle at the same place and it took us right to our car.

For us it worked very well. It was less walking than if we had paked in long term. Just know you will have to use a shuttle to get to and from. There are many of these lots near the airport. Check around and you just might get a really good deal.:thumbsup2

if you have an early morning flight you may want to try parksleepfly.com and stay the night before. for the price of a hotel room you get free parking for the length of your trip and they shuttle you over to the hotel for free.

We've used this several times. We usually find a valpak coupon or use a competetor's coupon and pay $6.99 +tax. It is great if you have little ones in carseats.

Wow! Thanks everyone for the suggestions. However, after I posted I talked to my mom who lives in Langhorne and she offered to drive us to the airport and pick us up. However, my step-father's mom was just diagnosed with cancer and it doesn't look good.... .so if they need to be away with her and not able to take us to the airport it is good to know all these suggestions.

Thanks again!

I second the recommendation for Pacifico. We go to WDW every year and we always use Pacifico. We've never used anybody else so I can't say anything good or bad about the other offsite lots. You can get a coupon from the internet for Pacifico too.

If you are flying USAir, have one (or more) persons go for the car while one (or more) waits for the luggage. The driver will have plenty of time to head into Philly for Pat's Geno's or your favorite chesse steak, get some "to go, wit" and head back to the airport to continue waiting for the bags.

CPT Tripss........boy, ain't it the truth about waiting for baggage at PHL!!!!!! I swear those baggage handlers take WAY too many breaks or something!!!! I don't think it's only USAirways, though. It seems everytime we fly the wait for baggage gets longer (and we fly SW exclusively). Don't get me wrong, we love SW, but, something about PHL and baggage..............

Stayed at the Holiday Inn in Essington and took advantage of the park-sleep-fly deal. Call the hotel direct and they will tell you that you get your best rate and then its 25.00 on top of that for 10 days parking. It is great for those EARLY flights - quick trip to the airport. Coming home you have to be aggressive about fighting with flight attendants for the shuttle :)

It is what I always do when flying out of philly. This year its back to long term parking offisite at Newark *sigh* - but continental had GREAT rates.

Have fun.

Oh and I booked directly thru AAA prepay site and got a rate of 99.00 for the night at the hotel last year. May want to try calling - their website - travelocity- expedia ect ect to get rates too. I think the hi website is 159 for the parknfly.
