This board has a wealth of knowledge and I'm hoping someone will help me with this one. The airport long-term lot is 20 minutes away. Researching parking options, I found many off-site facilities and don't know what to do. Anyone have recommendations from experience for parking 5 days at EWR?

I've never used off site parking. Always use long term at the airport. Never had any problems the shuttle busses come very frequently. I don't think I've waited more than 10 minutes for the shuttle.

We have used AviStar, which is about 10-15 minutes away from EWR. You park your car there and then are taken to the airport by a van. When you arrive back at EWR, you call the # you are given and the Van picks you up.

It is very convenient because you are dropped right off at your terminal.

Sometimes you can get a coupon for a discount online.

I was just on Google today, and there are several other places for off-site parking.

Last year, we went the night before and stayed at Courtyard, and parked our car for the week for about $129..(I think )

We just flew out of Newark, our first time, we had NO IDEA the long term pakring was 20 minutes away, at 7am in the cold with 2 kids waiting at a busstop was NOT FUN and of course NOONE would think to let us on a full bus, but oh well we got on the next one and it was empty. The cost was $12.00 a day, a bit more expensive than phila airport. When we got back to Newark at 2am 3 hours late, we had a hard time finding the bus that took us back to parking again, Newark doesnt have many nice peopel:( We got a great rate on our flight but I did not like Newark at all. We had not problems with the parking at all.

Good luck

We have used SKY/PARK on rt. 1-9 southbound side. Very close to all three terminals.Secure parking lot. Bus will drop off at each terminal. When you return, call the 8oo # for pick up. Wait time - less than 10 min. Look for on line coupons. Good luck. :paw: :paw: :paw: :paw: :paw: :paw: :paw:

I've flown out of EWR a dozen times in the past year (will be doing it again next wednesday) and always use the economy parking lot. I have never waited more than 10 minutes for the bus. From the time the bus leaves the economy lot, it takes only 10 minutes to arrive at terminal A, so maybe it could take 15 or 20 by the time you reach terminal C.

We used Avistar once for one of our Disney trips. The ride to the terminal was quick, but on our return we waited nearly 20 minutes for the shuttle to bring us back to the Avistar lot. When we got our car, I discovered a new scratch on it. I'll continue to use the economy lot. There's a risk regardless of which option you choose, but I feel the economy lot is the least expensive and most convenient.

I use Avistar at JFK/LGA all the time and they are very good. The website as discount coupons. When you call for pick up they bring your car up front and warm it up. I would not want to park my car in an unattended long term lot.

We did the long term/economy parking thing last year, and have to say we probably wouldn't do it again. At least not in January and not with a young child. Yes, the shuttle did come quickly, and we did save some money, but we had no prior knowledge that the parking was so far away (our bad), and just made our flight. When we got back to Newark, I stayed at the baggage claim (at 11 pm) with DS (8 mos.) and all our luggage alone while DH went to get the car. We thought this would be easier, but it seemed like an eternity and have to say, I was a bit nervous.

We got a great price on our flights for next week's trip, so we decided to get a car service with the savings (not to mention the savings by using the Magical Express) - maybe this is an option you can consider, too.

and so does my sister. She recently used the Avistar lot on McClellan and thought it was excellent. Close on/off and quick response.

We're reserved there for our February trip. Coupons for both lots on their website. Don't want to chance being in the long term lot and getting snowed in during February.

Hi

We've used Corporate Park by Newark Airport several times and always had a good experience. When you pull into their lot (which is gated so secure), they immediately loaded our luggage into their shuttle, gave us a stub, and asked when we were returning. We were at the terminal very quickly. Upon returning, the shuttle picked us up quickly and when we got back to Corporate Park our car was pulled up and waiting for us with the heat on (it was the winter).

I've used Avistar by JFK (haven't tried the one by Newark yet) and had a good experience there as well.

I found Corporate Park to be quicker as they didn't wait for other passengers but took you right away to and from the terminal. It was usually just my husband and myself in the shuttle van.

Enjoy

I have used Avistar for years in newark. I have never have had a problem. I don't believe I have waited more than a few minutes to be picked up!!
