Long hold time - new normal or hurricane issues?

Hi, it’s been over a year since I last called WDW reservations. Want to modify my January reservation and I called today around noon and they said my wait time was 43 minutes. I hung up. Is this typical or are these still phone calls from people affected by hurricanes? Trying to decide whether to suck it up and wait on hold or call next week when hopefully the hurricane cancelations have died down.

Did you try to modify online? It's much quicker.
 

You can add someone without calling unless it is a reservation for today or if you are trying to change the lead name on the reservation. Other than that just click the modify button and do it yourself

Or if it's a bounce back reservation. You can't modify on line for a BB offer, you have to call.

I am trying and when I go to the page that says Change Reservation, and I scroll down to “Travel Party”, there isn’t a button to modify, there is only a note that says Call to change.
 
As far as your question, some days the holds are really long, and other days they aren't. You just never know until you call.
 
How would people calling Member Services affect the general hotel reservations line? Aren't they 2 separate departments?
I wouldn’t be surprised if Disney had pulled in some regular hotel reservations CMs to help the DVC CMs this morning. Calls were heavy and members were waiting an hour or more on hold to book.

If it helps - I called yesterday about 10:00am and only waited on hold about 10 minutes to talk to someone. I was also trying to change my travel party and "Rusty" got me taken care of quickly.
 
I always try to call early morning or later evening. Midday often means long phone hold times.
 
I think many of the Disney phone reservation people work from home. If they are located in Florida, some may have been without power or internet access. Those who had storm damage are probably busy with that and perhaps unable to work.
