Long Beach car rental...

For those of you that have rented a car in the past from Long Beach airport, seems like the rates I've seen on here are MUCH cheaper than what I'm being quoted through both Budget and Avis. I'm getting a rate of close to $70 for ONE day. Is it because I'm wanting to do one way only? I keep seeing specials for around 20 a day but when I call I get something much higher.

Looks like a cab may be the way to go.

i just get a rent a car thru hotwire lgb round trip 4 days 95 tax out the door.

alamo seems to be the cheapest one and thats the 1 i ended up with thru hotwire.

No we are flying in and out of LB. We just don't need the car sitting in the parking lot the whole 6 days we'll be there. One day was $68 the week I was told $235. We fly in on a Sunday, going to DL that day then Monday we're thinking of Knotts and returning the car Tuesday early am.

there is an alamo @ downtown disney im betting you could book online with them for a day not sure a price though.

yes you can do 1 day through them the cheapest prepay is 38 bucks out the door the economy car

We fly into Long Beach often when we travel to Disneyland. I have found that using Priceline and naming my own price has been the best way to get a car rental at a reasonable rate. We have also used Enterprise that is not at the Airport and had them pick us up. And Lastley I check Costcotravel.com for their specials. They are almost always cheaper than using the car rental companies directly. I hope this helps. It is discouraging when you save so much to fly into the Long Beach Airport only to find out that the Car rental rates use most of your savings.

Thank you! I will definitely check out Costcotravel. I was really surprised to see the rates that high. Is it really just because of the airport? Or could it be because we're asking for it to be one way travel? That $45 flat rate for a cab seems better and better.

It's the one way rental that's killing you. I've tried the same thing and found that it's actually cheaper for us to cab it to the hotel, then walk over to DTD Alamo and get a car for a few hours.

That's a good idea. We're thinking about going to Knotts one day and the car may be cheaper than the ground transportation that's provided. I'll have to look into that further. Thanks for the idea.
