Got a question for all you cat-a-holics (apologies to W8 for partial hi-jack). My cat stop eating as much (still eats just not a lot) and got real skinny. She's 14 y/o. A co-worker told me her cats did this too around that age. Anyone else experience this? In every other way she's fine. Sometimes I wonder if she just misses her momma....

Cats get very attached to their hoomans:) If everything else is fine, and she's not drinking tons of water, I wouldn't worry too much but you know you should take her to the doc just to be sure;) I'm so sorry for your loss:grouphug:

Vet already poked, probed and stuck things up her butt and said he can't find anything wrong. When my co-worker told me about hers I wondered if it's just one of those "kitty" things that come with age (First cat I've ever had). :confused3

Just to be sure there's nothing wrong, I'd take her to the vet. My husband's cat did that and he ended up having hyper thyroid and eventually died from it because he was initially mis-diagnosed. They do have meds that will correct the problem. So, please, take her to the vet.

Moms cat has a hyperthyroid.

She eats like a little piggy but she stays skinny. She takes daily meds which controls it, but you have to be careful- sometimes the meds can damage their kidneys- so she need to get bloodwork to check that on a regular basis too.

ITA agree with Planetsis- time for a vet visit.;)
