is there any news at all on avatarland?
no...of course not.
this is what they do know...they make "big annoncements"...one's that, conveniently, don't involve any construction for several years...then plan on the construction taking several more years...and they use it to milk PR (to milk profits) for what ends up being 6 or more years.
when all is said and done...the fantasyland expansion will be nice...but i already know that when i look at it - i see 18 months of construction.
But that is strategic...the longer it takes...the longer you can use "Coming soon"...and the longer you can keep packaging it as "new".
It would be refreshing if they did it a little more like "ghetto" universal and seaworld...where there is a press release the year before...the trucks roll in that day...and they press to have it open in 6,12,18 months...while its fresh.
Instead they are going to consume somewhere between 5 and 6 years to build two front line attractions, install a new dumbo with the old, repaint the barnstormer...add two dining locations...and build 37 new giftshops with the same cheap junk...
So those that were 5 or 6 when the announcement was made...won't even venture into fantasyland when it is complete.
That is inherently sad...and another front where the quality and committment to the customer has failed in disney management.
It's one thing to build an island, dredge a swamp, or bring water to the desert and build a brand new park and support facilities for 5 years....quite another when it amount to small addition.
They build EPCOT in 3 years from the swamp up...animal kingdom in 4 (though it should have taken 6 because they didn't bother to finish)...i'm just saying.
You'd think the wise course of action would be to have the Avatar "whatever" open before they release new movies....you can use it for special events, PR...buzz will growing, not waning.
But they can't seem to do it.
They supposedly had this monsters inc concept for DHS for about 5 years now...and a sequel is due next year...
it will probably will open in 2021
