What options transportation options do you have to get to US/IOA from this resort?

Looking on google maps, it seems there is a walk path but I cannot tell for sure. Can anyone elaborate for me?

Thanks!

You can take the boat or the bus or you can walk the 10 minute walk along the beautifully manicured pathway that lets you out beside Margaritaville very close to the entrance to Islands of Adventure.

Ok, thanks.

I am trying to figure out the walk path and where the boats pickup and drop off. Do I have the correct places based on this picture?

That is exactly it. It is much faster to walk than take the boat to IOA. It depends on how long you have to wait on a boat to know which is longer to US.

Actually the walk path is behind the pool and have to agree it is faster but after a long day of walking I prefer taking the boat ride back :thumbsup2

Ok great, thanks for the help!

Edit: Yeah, on the way to the parks I can see us walking. On the way back I can see us taking the boats.

I'm sure I can fine the info on Universal's website with some digging but it might be easier to ask here. Does anyone know the boats operating hours?

I was just trying to dig but guess I have to try harder.

I did notice that they have a $15 a night fee for renting a fridge though plus 12.5% tax. I understand the 6.5% for state tax but why charge the additional Orange County Occupancy Tax of 6%? I didn't know I was going to be living in the fridge. :/

Even with this 42% off, I am really wondering if it's worth it all. Downgrading on the bed, $15 a night parking fee and $15 a night plus 12.5% tax for fridge rental just so we can be closer to the parks and get express passes. Staying at another hotel with sleep number beds, fridge and no parking fee for 1000 less (more than enough for express passes). Without the 42% savings I estimate the normal cost of a standard room would be $2714 for 10 days with the parking and fridge ... $2100 more than an offsite.

I truly hope the experience is worth it. Sorry for turning an innocent thread into a quickie rant. Just got miffed by the additional fridge charge.

I don't think they actually post the schedule for the boats on the web, but its basically when the parks open, (little before) pretty early in the morning to fairly late at night. Seems like the boats keep going to around 11 or 12 am. Its pretty late, and probably varies from whatever time of the year it is, peak times, boats probably run more.

Also, sometimes there are rickshaws you can take down the path (not free but tip only I think) if you don't want to walk and for some reason don't want to wait on the boat, you can take a rickshaw.

We almost always use the boats, just because I love boat rides, they are extremely cool. But walking the path is pretty neat, its really well landscaped and is just a cool, but fairly long walk.

last boat out of city walk is 2:00 am

not sure the time of the first boat, but i have taken a boat at 7:45 before in the morning.
maybe due the time i stay onsite, the schedule is different.

rph to city walk or ioa, is not bad.
depending on the type of walker you are, you could be there in 7 minutes.

rph is the closest hotel to cw and ioa.

Could you purchase a styrofoam cooler and fill it with ice instead of renting a refridgerator? When we stay on property, we use a towncar service to avoid paying the hotel parking fee, and we request a grocery stop from the towncar service to buy the cooler, soda, water and snacks.

Yeah, thats true. What we do is actually bring with us cereal and milk for breakfast each morning. Once or twice we might actually go out somewhere but we generally eat in before the parks. Not sure if cooler would work though for the milk.

Hadn't thought about a towncar but doesnt that get extremely expensive? We rent a car for 10 days for $500.

Thinking about it, at $15 a day x 10 days +12.5% tax (which I would believe the 6.0% portion is illegal to charge but whatever lol) I could buy two mini fridges from walmart.

I did call them up to ask them about that and was told that instead, they could empty the liquor cabinet (which apparently is a fridge) for $25 and I could use that for the length of my trip. Really though, $25 for someone to take the liquor from my room back downstairs? Besides, do the standard rooms even have liquor cabinets?

I dont know why but I really want to stay at the resort but my brain is telling me it's not worth it (monetarily).

The liquor cabinet is a mini bar. All rooms have them.

Awesome, thanks

Being there for 10 days, I can see why you would want a rental car, so that you can explore off property when you want. But if you don't plan on leaving the property during those 10 days, a towncar would be helpful as they usually charge around $100 roundtrip for 4 people or less between Orlando International Airport and the RPR. For parties sizes greater than 4, a bigger car will be used, resulting in a higher rate. Most towncar services will also provide a free 30 minute grocery stop between the airport and the hotel.

We've been using a towncar service for our past few trips and we'll be using one for our upcoming October trip. But then we'll only be there for 4 nights and we won't be leaving property while we're there.
