I have reserved a two bedroom villa at the Beach Club from June 6-June 13, 2005. I was assigned a dedicated two bedroom, but would under the circumstances of friends who are staying with us, a 2 bedroom lockoff would work out better for all concerned. I called member services about a month ago, and was wait-listed for the lockoff. I called on Monday and was told that I was still on the wait list. The reservationist listed my chances of getting the lockoff at 50/50.

Is anyone familiar with a change like this and the likelihood of it happening? Is there anything I can do to improve my chances?

:confused3

With less than 3 weeks to go, it may be a tough waitlist to get. It sounds like you are waitlisted for the entire stay, so it will come thru only if some cancels those same dates in one reservation- they won't save individual days towards a waitlist. If you were further out from arrival, the day-by-day waitlist might get what you want- they would add the individual days as they became availbale until your dates were complete.

At this point, you'll need some luck - but it can still happen.

Good luck!! :)

I think you should plan on the waitlist not coming through. At this point, it's pretty risky to waitlist by individual days - that's about all you can do to improve your chances, but I don't recommend it. Call again 7 days before you arrive to see how it's looking.

I don't recommend waitlisting day by day at this point - if all the days don't come through, you' d have to move back and forth because the lock off and dedicated 2 bedrooms are separate booking categories.

Hope the 50% that is in your favor comes through. As Doc says, it could happen.

Good luck!

As a last-ditch effort, have someone in your party arrive early on check-in day, conduct the check-in and request the lockoff at that time.

Hope your wishlist come thru

I'm on the waitlist for the opposite in August. I WANT a dedicated 2bdrm and currently have a lockoff.

Good Luck

I think your chances are slim- we have ressies for a 2br and my wife got a dedicated unit. I called to add 2 days and said a lock-off would be fine and was told only dedicated units were available. I would guess that dedicated 2BRs are allocated first and the lockoffs only given when the dedicated's are all gone. This is where a waitlisted unit would probably come from.

I guess the waitlist request for studios, 1BR, and 2BRs are somehow sorted to get the best "yield". This is only speculation on my part but it makes sense to me at least.
