Locking pin backs

For those of you who have had trouble with the rubber Mickey head pin backs falling off I thought I'd share this. I found some at my local craft store the other night. The are the round ones with the little tabs on the back that you squeeze together to open, put on the pin, then release to lock. We had only been able to find them at the pin trading website I think it was and had paid dearly for them, but I found them in the jewelry section of the craft store very inexpensively. We also had purchased the real Fort Knox locking ones that you needed an allen wrench to get on and off but found those impossible to use when trading. So to any of you who have had your child lose a favorite pin while walking around or you yourself have lost one, try looking in the craft store's jewelry isle!

Oh yuk, I so do not like those....not at all. I would rather use the rubber ones, or the real locking ones that Disney sells for those I won't trade. :)

Thanks for posting, I'll check out our Michaels/AC Moore! I put the boys "treasured" or the more collectable ones with the lockable ones but these would be really nice to have - they have lost MANY pins because of those rubber backs and truth be told....they don't trade their pins! I saw a neat cork bulletin board done with pins on the board awhile back that I want to make so they can enjoy their pins in a frame rather than a lanyard jumbled on the wall.

Those pin backs don't lock. They were worse than the rubber backs regarding losing pins. That's why Disney switched to the rubber backs a few years ago. Show it to any CM and they'll tell you the same thing.

Daber you're right, when we would trade and the pin we were getting had that type of back the CM would say "keep your back, these don't work". I forgot until you said that. :)

I got some but I bought them from the Pin Place in DTD. I used them on 2 of them since they kept falling off while I was walking. The disney ones work but are annoying to take off, but I wont be trading these pins.
