Locking Luggage

Has anyone used those new locks that are TSA approved? Supposedly you are allowed to lock your luggage with them because the airlines have some special key that allows them to open the luggage locked with these.

I wouldn't use them. If someone along the line doesn't have the key there goes your lock.

We use very thin wire ties (some call them zipties). If TSA needs to inspect, then they can be cut very easily.

To cut them when we get to our destination, we use infant nail clippers that DW keeps in her purse.
Just need to make sure that nail clippers don't have a file, or they may be taken by TSA.

I use the twist ties most commonly found with garbage bags. Although, I got a whole roll at Home Depot I think. They are green and work great!

I also use the twist ties..they can be easily removed by the TSA. For the TSA locks, I was under the impression that all TSA in all cities have keys to get in them if necessary. Maybe check their website or give them a call (I know they have an 800# but not sure what it is) to double check...

The people you need to worry about stealing your things is the TSA. They inspected one of my bags in July and when I got home about 100 disney pins were missing. Delta said they are not responsible and TSA is now looking into it but I have a feeling they are going to say the same thing. If you have anything of value do not put in checked in luggage whether you put a lock on it or not. I regret doing this but I was very sick and did not want to carry the pins on the plane so I just put in checked in luggage thinking who would take the pins.
