Locking in DDP prices?

Question for the pros---

I am probably not going to get the dining plan. But, if I do...

We are renting DVC points, so I know I can get the DDP through the DVC owner. Assuming the DDP goes up in price in a few months, if I were to pre-pay now (for DVC you have to pre-pay the entire cost when adding DDP), would I be able to lock in current prices if they go up by the time we go to WDW in December).

Talk about a run-on sentence! ;)

TIA! :flower3:

I'm pretty sure that the Dining Plan prices only increase at the start of the new year. Here is some historical pricing info, so you could guestimate what a price increase might look like. I wouldn't be worried about purchasing Dining far in advance, in these circumstances. Taxes are already included in the per day Dining Plan price.

Historical Prices of WDW Dining Plans/Per Day
2009 QSDP Adult $29.99, Child $8.99
2009 DDP Adult $39.99, Child $10.99

2010 QSDP Adult $31.99, Child $9.99
2010 DDP Adult $41.99 ($46.99 Peak), Child $11.99 ($12.99 Peak)
2010 DxDP Adult $71.99, Child $20.99

2011 QSDP Adult $34.99, Child $11.99
2011 DDP Adult $45.99 ($47.99 Peak), Child $11.99 ($12.99 Peak)
2011 DxDP Adult $78.99, Child $21.99

2012 QSDP Adult $34.99, Child $11.99
2012 DDP Adult $51.54 ($53.54 Peak), Child $15.02 ($16.02 Peak)
2012 DxDP Adult $85.52 ($89.52 Peak), Child $23.79 ($25.79 Peak)

Yep, at least that's been the case so far. They will be "released" when the 2013 packages become bookable, and the increase starts for bookings starting 1/1/13 and onward.

As a note, the prices are not typically "released" by Disney, they are calculated by diligent numbers people on this board and others.

Thanks to both of you. For some reason, I thought they went up in Sept. Good to know!! :thumbsup2

DVC does release the individual prices for the dining plan. They are available on the member website (you're not a member, so you can't access this, but you can ask the member you are renting from). However, they usually don't appear there until they've already been calculated from package costs by the diligent numbers people.

As noted, there's no need to "lock in" the price of the dining plan. If you check in during 2012 you will pay the 2012 prices. If you check in during 2013 you will pay whatever price the plans turn out to be in 2013.

we can buy a package deal for 2013 starting in August of this year.
IF prices for the dining plan do not go up until January-- can I expect to pay more for my package if its already booked?

we are booking for dec 2013 as soon as we can in August-- when bookins become available we will be right there online.

If you book for 2013, you will pay 2013 prices. They will quote you 2013 prices when you book in August, so it won't go up - but neither will it be 2012 prices.
