Lockers

I have read a few threads that mention lockers. I am assuming it is required to put your bags in a locker on some rides? What is the cost for a locker? Just wondering if it is worth it to try to come without a bag. Last time we went to Six Flags it was a real pain to have to pay for a locker at every ride. I am very used to Disney who does not require lockers.

I think they're free for an hour, or adjustable to the length of the queue. We haven't been yet, but according to everything I've read, if you're required to use a locker, it's free while you're on the ride. I'm excited because I won't have to constantly worry about what to do with my camera.

Required lockers are free for the period of time it takes you to ride. You can't leave your stuff in there all day though.

If you can go without a bag that would be best so you don't have to worry about a locker, but that's probably easier said than done.

Any ride that requires lockers will offer them for free for the amount of time it takes to ride. However, if you choose to leave your stuff in a locker and go ride other attractions it will start charging. (not sure on the fees- but they are reasonable.

It is worth it to go without a bag to not go through the hassle of putting it in a locker all day. When I go I make my hubby me the responsible one and I just grab my ID, pass, cash, blackberry, and chapstick. It all fits in my pockets and I don't have to worry about a bag.

Two good points: 1) They will allow belly bags on just about everything. It is the only bag you won't have to put in a locker. 2) Please make sure your cell phone fits snug in your pocket. I have had so many friends destroy their phones on RRR!

Correct, rides that REQUIRE you to put loose articles in a locker are free for the amount of time it takes to go through the line, ride the ride, and retrieve your stuff. Example: Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey's wait time is 60 minutes, the lockers will be free for 90. The lock using a fingerprint system, so be sure to remember who locked the locker, and which finger was used.

The rides that require lockers in both parks are:

IOA
Hulk
Dragon's Challenge
Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey

USF
Hollywood Rip, Ride, Rockit
Revenge of the Mummy
Men in Black: Alien Attack

You will notice that at the various water rides, lockers are available to store loose articles. Remember that the water rides DO ALLOW you to take your stuff with you on the ride. Those lockers are there for guests who wish to make sure their items stay dry. Since those lockers are NOT required, they will charge you.

I noticed the locker room at HP was packed and crazy. The room is really small so you have people picking up their stuff and people who are putting their stuff in the lockers and Flichs Emp is next to it and the whole area is about the size of a closet so thik about that when you go to FJ. Men in Black has lockers they are out side so you have a little room. I would think that if you could I would not bring a bag if I could. You move alot faster than to have to deal with a bag.
I was not empressed with the castle tour at the castle. The passage way is to small you cannot stop and take pictures of the items next to the passage way like like the mirror, the house cup measures for each house. The entrance to dumbuldor's office, the phennoix(sp) at the bottom was nice.
The talking pictures was good. The deadly arts classroom was ok but you were constantly being pushed by the people who wanted to go on the ride. I would like to have tried the ride but I had my brother in a wheelchair and he is legally blind so I wasn't going to put him on the ride.
I didn't undersatnd herbology. I got nothing out of it except that it was a maze to get back into the castle. The shop in Hogsmeade with the Mandrake plant was a lot more interesting than herbology in the que. When I go back in 2012 I hope they have gotten their stuff together.
We stayed at Tower 2 Royal Pacific Hotel. I was not overly empressed with this hotel. What I didn't like about this was that the staff in front of the hotel was more concerned with the valet money than to help some one who was just checking in. So I had to go down to the parking lot down the hill and leave my brother in the car because I was not sure what check in was going to be like. Then I found out that the hotel charges you 18 a day to park in the parking lot WHERE YOU ARE STAYING! We were locked into walking over IOA or taking the boat. I tried both. I prefered the boat.
I don't know why I picked this hotel I should have picked a Disney hotel or a resort at least they don't charge you parking.

The OPTIONAL lockers charge a rate of $3/hr. Those are available at the water rides. Everything else has been covered already.

dan-tot I'm not sure what the hotel etc has to do with the lockers???
We took the castle tour and it doesn't even conflict with the riders, the tour is in an area separated by the railing....

People moved through the locker area (man you must have a big closet) and we had no problems.

I'm a big fan of WDW too, but just don't see the need for the constant negativity in every post>>>

Sure they do...you just don't know it because it's built in to the daily rate.

Dan-tot the locker area at FJ is actually quite big, that is if you go passed the first room and into the second. Most people just flock into the first locker area they see, but keep walking back and it expands magically into a huge second area.

I'm also confused on the whole Castle Tour issue you had, as another poster has mentioned, the tour line does not intersect at all with the regular line. It's it own line and no one riding should be in it, pushing to get to the ride. I have to wonder if you were just in the regular ride line as you mentioned the herbology queue(ramps/switchbacks) and the castle tour line does not go through that. The Castle Tour bypasses that area, you either take steps up or ask a TM who leads you to an elevator for wheelchair access. Also, if you were not riding, you wouldn't need a locker. Just right into the castle for the tour line. Just confused as to which line you were in.

If you select the period for which the use is free (say 60 minutes for FJ) but don't get to retrieve it until after the time is up, would they ask you for $$ before you open the locker? But what if your belongings, including your credit card, is in your locker, wouldn't you be stuck? For what it's worth, the one time when I was twenty minutes over the period for which it was free (and didn't select to pay up front), I unlocked it no problem without any problems and the machine didn't ask me to pay.

The Team Members who work in the lockers area probably made the time longer. They realized the wait was longer than it was originally, so pushed the free locker time back by 30 minutes, maybe.

Also, you don't select the free time, it's automatically in there. If you do happen to go over, and it wont open for you, there's someone there who will most likely unlock it for you for no charge, even if you're wallet is in there.
