Lock-out confusion at MS...

I called MS the other day to switch the last 4 days of our big August trip to SSR (woo hoo!) In my request for our 1BR at SSR, I asked for NS and also, if possible, a dedicated 1BR. MS then said, no, you can't ask for that -- that's only for a 2br, no such thing as a "dedicated" 1BR! I said I realize it's just a request, and distinct possibility still exisits to get a locked out 1BR, and that's ok, but could she still put it in as a request? No, she says, you can't get a locked out 1BR -- that's only a 2BR. She then takes a few minutes to define just what "lock-out" means. I said yes, I REALIZE that a "lock-out" 2br has the extra doors, and a "dedicated" does not, but that there are some 1BRs that are not "hooked-up" to a studio and are therefore considered dedicated. She reiterated again, no such thing as a dedicated, a 1BR is a 1BR, lock-outs are only 2BR, etc., was I thinking of another segment of my trip where I have a 2BR accommodation? Did I infact want a dedicated at BWV (I should have said why yes -- give me a dedicated at BWV! Just to get her response.... but didn't.) No, I said -- my BWV accommodations are fine -- I'm thinking only of this 1BR request.

Finally, recognizing I should probably just call back later or drop it altogether, I said, "Well, it's ok, if you can't do it, so be it. All I'm saying is, it sure would be nice to have a room with as few doors as possible, because my 3 yr old will want to open ALL of them -- and will persistently knock on any that DON'T -- and I wouldn't want to be the studio person that lives next door to the woodpecker family!"

At this the MS person began to laugh out loud and then says, "Ohhhhhh! Well then in THAT case you don't want a room with the lock-out doors between you! What you want is a request for a 1BR dedicated. It is a request, no guarantee, but there (as she types), it's in there, all done! Anything else?"

Stating no, that would do it, I was then thanked by the MS person and told to have a wonderful day, and she wished my dd the same!

SSR has no dedicated 1BR or studio villas listed in it's POS. Each building has 20 dedicated 2BR villas, 24 lock-off 2BR villas and 2 GV's. No mention of any 1BR or studios (those are all included in the 24 lock-off 2BR's).

While it can't hurt to list it as a request, don't get too stressed out when that request isn't honored!

Ironically, I did ask if that was the case -- perhaps no dedicated 1BRs at specifically SSR? But she kept giving the "definition" for dedicated versus lock-out, and spoke as if there were nothing like a 1br dedicated in all of DVC. The whole conversation was so confusing. (Especially when she then asked if I wanted a "dedicated" 2br at BWV!) Then at the end, when she backpeddled and made the request for a 1br diedicated at SSR (which by your account is as impossible as a 2br dedicated at BWV), I was TOTALLY confused.

As long as we get our 1br at SSR, it'll be fine, but like I said -- very strange convo altogether! And no one can really accuse DVC on consistency, can they -- no dedicated 2 BRs at BWV, then no GV at VWL or BCV, then no dedicated 1br or studio at SSR...go figure. I'm surprised they haven't come up with a way to make a 3br by connecting 2 studios and a 1br for ultimate convertability.

There are no dedicated studios or 1BRs at OKW, HH or VB either. BWV does have dedicated studios (Studio Plus).

VB does have a 3BR comprised of a 1BR with connecting studios on each side and I understand that HH also has a similar accessible arrangement for a 3BR.
