Hi Everyone,
In early December I will spend part of my vacation at BWV, one bedroom, on rented points.

I've heard so much about the long walk to only one bank of elevators.
None of the maps show where they are.

I'm assuming that the elevators are to the side of the check-in area.
Am I correct ?

This will be my first time at the villas, so I'm really excited.

Thanks !

You are correct. They are to the right of the check in area just off the lobby.

We were there in June 2001 and asked to be near the elevators. We go almost the last room from the elevators(one away)! I can tell you it is a long walk after a long day of park hopping. That is the first time I have ever requested anything but non-smoking and I was disappointed in the result. I have never been disappointed with any OKW accomodations so BWV will not be my choice for any further DVC vacations.( did not particularly get that homey feeling you get at OKW) We are trying BCV in June.

Hope you get a closer room.

Don't forget that every cloud has a silver lining.

If you're way away from the elevators, you've got that much shorter walk to MGM by using the back entrance.:p

We had one of those way-out rooms once and walking to MGM was a snap. In the time it would have taken just to walk to the boat dock from our room, we were already probably 2/3 of the way to the park by walking out the resort's back door.

I agree with Caskbill, we prefer to be down by the tennis courts. It is a short walk to MGM and use can use the side door to get to the bus stop. We like using the stairs and side doors for the community pool too. Just about all of the stair wells have a door you can use your room key in to get back inside, you just need to find the closest one to your villa. The only drawback is the long walk to Epcot, but our kids are small and that isn't our favorite park right now.

The "long" walk to the elevators is greatly exaggerated, imho. After staying multiple times at AKL with a room at the very end of one of the wings every time, we found the walk at BWV a breeze. Don't even give it a second thought. Unless you have severe difficulty getting around, you'll hardly notice. And if you do have difficulty, you'll find many other places at WDW much more problematic than the hallways at BWV.
