hi, we have just booked to stay in a cabin for one night in november, we wont have a car so will we ok walking to the boat dock and checkin area, we have never stayed here before but it looked lovely when we booked, thanks for any advice, susie2
The boat dock is a little far for walking although you can do it. You are closer to the check in area than the boat dock. Maybe about a 10-15 minute walk. There are internal buses that go past the cabins and this is your best option to get to either spot. You would take the bus to the Outpost (check in area) for buses to all areas except the MK. You take the bus to the Settlement area to catch the boat for the MK. The bus routes in the campground may sound complicated sometimes but if you are staying in the cabins just remember do not take the yellow bus. Orange and purple both go through the cabin area.
You will be fine for one night of walking. The resort and campground is an extermeley large place, so there will be a lot of walking, but there are bus points all over the campground for pickup. If you can request a cabin near a bus pickup or near the boat dock that would be ideal.
It's a fair walk from the cabins to either the marina or Outpost to catch a park bus, but the internal buses run regularly and will get you there if you want to save your walking for the parks.
The Fort is pretty big! Think of it like a clock. 6:00 is check in (The out post). 12:00 is the boat dock(The settlement). You will be staying somewhere between 7:00-9:00 in the cabins. Tent and pop-up campers are in 10:00-11:00. Campers and RVs are 1:00-5:00. And where the hands are in the middle is the Meadows complex (swimming shopping movies and other picture postcards)! And there is a bus system that connects it all! Have a wonderful trip!!!
