Good call K95! They had a poll to decide whether to kick them off the air or not, and the overwhelming majority said get the Chicks out of Dixie!

LOL! They ban them because of political statements, yet they gave them air play for their butchered up version of, "Landslide"? How weird is that! :p :p LOL!

I defend their free speech rights to say whatever they want about President Bush. But no one is protected from the consequences of free speech, as long as those consequences are legal (ie, fans no longer supporting their music).

Given the demographics of this group's fan base, this has got to be one of the stupidest things a celebrity has ever done.

I predict we'll hear a major apology, and major spin from the Dixie Chicks, to try to explain the statement and lessen the fallout. And when they do, I'll have an even lower opinion of them than I do right now!

And LOL, Saffron!

I totally agree, Bet.

It's already there, go to their website. www.dixiechicks.com. Just goes to show you that talent doesn't equal brains.

Olaf, I had already seen that statement.

I'm predicting there will be another. And maybe another. In the end, we may even see some groveling....

I personally think that banning the music because they have a political opinion is wrong. I think that we should all have the right to express our opinions, that is what is great about our country, not everyone has to agree.

It's the station's choice. As long as this action doesn't deprive anyone of their life, liberty or property without due process, it's their choice. If the station suffers backlash over this, then that becomes their consequences. And the cycle continues.

The banning had absolutely nothing to do with what they said. They were banned because listeners used their right to free speech to express their concerns to the station. It was the station's decision.

Is there a website anyone knows of that lists all the products, people, countries, etc. we should be boycotting because they disagree with our President?

Thanks! :)

LOL! Willy, not to mention all of the shows we're not suppose to watch and movies we shouldn't see.

I just hope Mickey doesn't come out with an opinion or we're all in trouble

My personal opinion (for what it's worth), they targeted their London audience for a reaction and didn't think about their fans in the US.

I would also defend their right to free speech but as history has proven, it sometimes comes with a heavy price.

Exactly Kels!! I'm watching FOX News and Allen Combs has disagreed with Bush's policy on Iraq. .

I guess I better shut it off. . . :(

Well, what the heck are you doing watching FOX anyway!!! ;)

Turn on CNN silly!!

Our local station 92.5 xtu also banned there music instead they will play God Bless America everytime they where gone to play a Dixie chick song.

This should be no shocker, but stations all over Texas have taken the Dixie Chicks out of their song rotation.

I think a station is well within it's rights to play or not play whatever they want (provided it follows FCC guidelines), especially if listeners have said that they don't want to hear their songs.

If the gov't makes it illegal to own their music it's one thing - if the local country station stops playing their music, it's a matter of supply & demand.

As far as the apology is concerned, it sounds more like she's upset that what she said is coming back to bite her & she's trying to justify it with the "well, everyone else was doing it" defense. I truly believe that she will regret it, not because she really believes it was disrespectful of the President, but because her former fans truly believe it was disrespectful & will let their displeasure of her comments be heard with their wallets.

Willy, this is what's great about our country!

We don't need a list.

We don't need a State-sponsored boycott!

The consumer decides what they want to support and not support. There are ample radio stations that would play the Dixie Chicks regardless of their opinions of our President. If anyone is willing to listen and buy their CDs and go to their concerts, there will be a market for it!

Ain't a free market a great thing! :) :)

WillyJ,

What do you do, mute the TV every time Sean Hannity starts talking? ROFLMBO;)

LOL!! No Kirk; he is irritating at times, but I like hearing both sides of the issues. . I generally switch between MSNBC, CNN, and Fox. . :) :)

As far as the list; I just feel like if I personally am going to boycott anyone for disagreeing with Bush's policy, it wouldn't be fair unless I boycott everyone and every product from every country that does. . . and I was just wondering if it's possible to find that info in one place. . . :) :)
