Actually, Willy J., I wouldn't be quite as taken back if Natalie Maines had made her remarks in our country. I think she was just trying to jump on the bleeding heart liberal celebrity bandwagon and curry favor with the Brits. I don't think it's acceptable to use her celebrity status as a platform to bash our President abroad. I'm all for her right to express herself, and I don't think anyone's saying she doesn't have that right. But whether she
should have epressed her thoughts in that manner and in that forum is another story. It was poor judgement, and now she's paying the price. Boo hoo for her.
I'm tired of celebrities using their fame to promote their own politics. If they want to be involved in politics, then they should
work in politics. Otherwise, they should just shut up and entertain us. They just seem to have this inflated opinion of the importance of their own opinions, and most of them are woefully uninformed. So, they just end up making themselves look stupid.
By the way, I don't really have a problem with Martin Sheen even though I don't agree with his views. He's very sincere and committed to his political views, and he's been expressing them in a respectful manner for years and years. He lives by his moral standards, and I can respect that. I'm just sick of this juvenile Hollywood bandwagon crap. It's well-known that any celebrity with conservative views is reluctant to go public with them because they fear rejection by their peers in Hollywood. Hmmm...speaking of McCarthyism....
