We are sailing a week from today on the 7 day Magic. DH wants to find out how large the lobster tails are on Captains Gala night. I think he wants to be prepared to order more than one if they are small. Thanks for any help.

I would say there were average to small. You can definately ask for more than one right from the get go....you don't have to wait until you finish one.

Won't claim to be a lobster expert, but they are certainly bigger than what I've had other places. You can get as many as you'd like. My server was upset that I didn't order the lobster on one cruise, so brought me one in addition to the beef I ordered!

Look at the lobsters shoes. It will give you a good indication as to the size of it's "tail".

On our September Magic cruise, our servers brought additional lobster tails before we even asked. One gentleman at our table had three...no problem!:p

Ditto on our October cruise. I was suprised that the lobster tails were quite tasty. I usually find that lobster tails have been frozen and are sort of dry. These were great!

Disney serves rock lobster tails which are small.

It is interesting to see all of the responses, we had really good size lobster tails on our cruise, and they were not rock lobster, those look more like overgrown shrimps. We each ordered one, then our server brought us one more to share, they were very good. (did not compare with fresh lobster in Maine, but very good anyway)

Just returned from the Eastern Halloween cruise. The lobsters were not Rock lobsters they were a very good size.

I ordered 2 not knowing how big they would be and to my surprise they were a very nice size.

We were just on the 10/16 cruise. I was surprised at how big the lobster tails were. I was going to order two, but was very glad I didn't. DH ordered two and couldn't finish the second one.

I have to agree with this. On our June cruise our servers brought more than even lobster tails out after we had ordered. They were good-sized and delicious -- the best I've ever had on Disney, RCI or Princess. It was a big improvement since during our last cruise in May 2002, the lobster was definitely smaller and pretty tasteless.

Maybe they changed their supplier or maybe it depends on the season as to where they get them from.

I love the fact that our head server always came around to take the lobster tail out of the shell for us...made it even easier to eat as I usually end up wearing most of my lobster when I try to take it off the shell.

Just don't ask the asst. or head server what spice they use on the lobster tail. My DH went to dinner not very hungry but to be with the family. He ordered the lobster just to try it knowing that he wouldn't eat much of it. Two of my children also ordered lobster to try. I am allergic and I will never cook it or take them to a seafood restaurant so it is a great time to test their tastes. My DH tasted it and didn't like the spice that they use on top. One of my kids tasted it and one didn't like it, the other ate half. My DH our of curiosity asked what spice was used and the asst. server went looking and asked the head server who insisted he would replace the lobster or find something else for my DH and kids. We spent 10 minutes trying to get them to stop. We have learned that it is almost impossible to be a person who doesn't eat a lot of food and go to dinner on the ship without being harassed about not being happy and needing something else. So be prepared there is paprika on the top of the lobster. Don't ask the servers will be afraid that all is not "excellent".

Sweet, it is so funny to read your response. I love lobster tails, and I couldn't wait to have them on the boat, okay the size was nice, I ordered two, BUT the spice turned me off completely, I barely ate 1, it was NOT paprika, I use that spice almost daily, I don't know what it was, but I did not like it. Our next cruise, I will ask them to just broil them plain, hopefully they will do it for me.

That's what I said too because I know paprika wasn't spicy and we were told that it was Bolivian paprika which I never heard of. I don't understand why they would put something spicy on something usually so delicately flavored. Also it wasn't served with butter although I'm sure they had it if you asked.
