Lobster rolls?

I recall a thread about authentic type lobster rolls and I can't remember where they were. I'm thinking somewhere at beah club. I appreciate suggestions!

If by authentic you mean the kind with chunks of pure lobster meat and not a mayo-based salad, the only place I've seen those were during the Food and Wine Festival at Epcot.

All the other Lobster Rolls I've seen at Disney are the mayo-based lobster salad type.

The lunch menu at the Captain's Grille at the Yacht Club did have real, authentic lobster rolls last summer and they were magnificent Now they have changed the lunch menu and offer lobster slider I do have a reservation in April because I was planning on getting their lobster roll again Now I will try and ask them to make me a lobster roll by grilling a hot dog roll so I will see what happens I tried the "lobster" roll at Columbia House and it was horrendous, nothing but fake lobster overflowing with runny mayonnaise and strong tasting peppers I love the food at Columbia House but definitely not these

I live in MA and have had many mayo based Lobster Rolls at fish shacks by the ocean many times. They are authentic too. You will also find some spots that don't use mayo but instead drawn butter. They are authentic too.
I did think the lobster roll at CCH had too much mayo. It was also more knuckle meat than chucks of lobster, I agree. I thought the one at Captsain's Grill was mayo based too. Am I wrong?
I was disappointed in the one at F & W this year.

I 100% agree with you-I grew up on mayo-based lobster rolls on Cape Cod and the Islands and they are absolutely authentic if they are done right. Fresh large chunks of lobster, mixed with mayo but not too much, on a buttery grilled hot dog roll-YUM!!! What people don't understand is the mayo based and the butter drawn are both authentic lobster rolls-just two different varieties. What makes them authentic is the quality

And Massachusetts native here. I love lobster rolls and as others said, yes, even those with mayo are "authentic". The key is not to overwhelm them with mayo. I grew up with lobster, a little mayo, maybe a little celery and always on a grilled New England style hot dog roll. YUM!! Now I'm salivating.

I think some people on the Dis got confused about what an authentic lobster roll is because there was a lobster roll thread a few weeks back where someone from Maine claimed that only butter based lobster rolls were the real or authentic ones. Those of us who grew up in Boston or Cape Cod and the Islands know this is not true and there are actually two different varieties of lobster rolls-mayo based and butter based. A childhood favorite of mine is the yummy lobster rolls from The Lobster Pot in Wareham-amazing!!! What makes them authentic is the quality. The ones at CHH are the McDonald's quality of lobster rolls......though McD's have a seasonal lobster roll near me that are a bit higher quality than CHH!! But that's what I would expect from a WDW CS restaurant.
