Is it true that Columbia Harbor House now has Lobster Rolls on their menu? Has anyone tried one?

I didn't get a chance to try the lobster roll on our last trip, but I want to. It seems to get mixed reviews, but I'm going to try to make it over there next month when I am there again. Here are a few links to reviews on it and you will see that it really does get mixed reviews - I wonder if it has to do with who is mixing up the lobster salad that day.

on easywdw Josh reviewed both the lobster roll at CHH and at the Tomorrowland Terrace:

Yes and yes. I thought mine was good but not as good as the fried shrimp. The lobster roll had a generous portion of the salad and it was mixed very much like I would make tuna salad. Lots of minced veggies and mayo.

Maybe you should give it a try just to see. I hope you enjoy it if you do.

:)

We tried one is September, DH enjoyed it. We're from the midwest though, so our opinion on seafood might differ from those that get more fresh seafood.

Dbf tried the Lobster Roll in September and he was pleased and satisfied with it. It didn't compare to a 'real' lobster roll from New England. He did say though that for the price and location (WDW cs), it was a reasonable price and quality. I have a pic of it in my TR.

Personally I didn't like it because it had tomatoes in it. I wasn't expecting it, but my DH ate it and liked it. It had an odd flavor for me and I wish it had more lobster in it.....but that's just me.

I've had New England Lobster Rolls (YUM) and yeah the bun should be toasted but I am now intreged. While I think of mayo as a food group there shouldn't be that much and is most certainly shouldn't be watery. I will certainly order one but might go for the Tomorrowland Terrace one.

I had been so excited to try the lobster roll at Columbia House but I was hugely disappointed  It had some horrible tasting peppers in it and was so watery you could almost wring it out :scared1: I took on bite and brought it back for a refund :sad2: That must happen a lot because the CM told me why before I could even explain :rolleyes1 I am from New England and I know a good lobster roll :woohoo: For me, a lobster roll is real (not fake ) lobster and mayo on a grilled roll and the one I tried was not even close so it was a big letdown :headache:

I had one in October and I thought it was good, not great, but I would get it again. I too am from New England and I have had some great Lobster rolls. I did not expect the one at CHH to match these, and I was not disappointed.
It was mainly claw and knuckle meat, not tail and it had a tad more mayo than I prefer. It did not have nasty peppers nor tomatoes.
I think you should try it for yourself.

I tried the lobster roll in December and won't order it again. The filling was mostly mayo and had only a passing acquaintance with lobster. The bread was less tasty than the white bread at Subway.

Thanks for the replies. This does get mixed reviews. I have had real lobster rolls several time in Maine a few years ago, but I don't expect the same chunks of lobster meat. I guess I'll taste it for myself to see.

Thanks again.

I'm also a fan of checking out others people's plates as they are eating. Not in a creepy stalker way but as I'm walking through the seating area, taking a glance to see what the food is looking like that day. If the two preperations in Liberty Square vs. Tomorrowland are that different, a glance at other people's food should tell me if I (a) want to order it or (b) go to the other land to check out their roll. A lot of work, i know but I'm there for the food so it's just part of the process. I have an annual pass at Disneyland so Magic Kingdom isn't high on my "must ride all the rides" park.

I had the Lobster Roll back in October and it was okay. It seemed to have a lot of sauce and not much lobster. It fell under the "glad I tried it, but probably wouldn't order another" category.

Just had one last week during Marathon Weekend. I enjoyed it, even though the bun wasn't toasted.

We spend some time in Ogunquit Maine every summer and they have the absolute best Lobster Rolls there. Of course the Columbia Harbour House ones are not as claw-riffic and divine but I thought they hit the spot! Maybe a little too much onion though.

We tried one in September of last year. They were just OK.

What did you add to this thread?:confused3

Oh no, there's onion in this lobster roll! I'm not a fan of onions and this might be a deal breaker for me. Thanks for the heads up.

Hopefully - I'm sorry but I do not understand the jibe. My point is since the Park serves this lobster roll in two different places and since I would be interested in trying it and since it would appear the Liberty Square version sometimes has runny mayo, my solution would be to check out the food that is being served on that day by looking at what people are eating. If the Liberty Square roll looks drippy then I would head to Tomorrowland to see if theirs looks better (less mayo, more lobster, etc.) If it looks good in Liberty Square, I would order it and there would be no need to change lands. It's about other options.

It is a possible solution to the issue of "that looks too drippy/messy for me" which I agree with. However I also understand that would be too labor intensive for some people since they want more ride time. Each person comes to the Park with a touring plan in mind and I was just verbalizing that mine was the food rather than riding the attractions since I can do that at home.

Was that clear enough as to what my contribution to the topic was?
