Weds 14th march –the hunt for the belle dress!!
Ok-apologies for the delay but I’ll finish this trip report tonight!
Wednesday we were up for about 9 and off to breakfast ,seeing Tigger on the way –we were learning by now never to go anywhere without autograph book and pen in hand(or should that be me clutching 3 books and pens at all time) . We stopped at the character greet before breakfast and met Pinocchio, stitch and Alice
went into breakfast and filled up ,on the way out Minnie was at the fireplace so again another photo stop and after being heckled by the other parents in the queue I had to go in the pic too!
Finally out to the park which and for once I had some kind of plan as normally we like to just wander and take the day as it comes but the kids missed `storybook land` and Casey junior last year so it was the plan this morning ,headed over to storybook ride which was a pretty much walk on, it was a beautiful day so perfect for the ride and the kids enjoyed it spotting all the lands ,then onto Casey junior where the queue was huge so we did the British thing and queued politely with no complaints !!This is where Oscar the brave came into play again as the longer we stood in the queue the more he decided he didn’t want to do this ride and ended up being talked into it by a man in front of us in the queue who seemed to take to him-even giving him his girlfriends chocolates –he wasn’t sure but as the man said to him `eat –its from Austria!` that was all it took (hence now he has at home vegetables from Austria!).
Casey was along queue but it was worth it as the kids loved it ,after that it was time to again head over to adventure isle –my boys just loved exploring it – and a quick stop in the shop for pirate bandanas
and the start of the hunt for the dress!! As we had a booking at Café Mickey that night and were meeting up with our friends who were staying at the Cheyenne my dd had decided she would like to get a Minnie dress but the one she wanted was only available in smaller sizes so the for the rest of the day ever shop we went into was a hunt for a suitable dress for her – she had decided that she wanted nothing else from the trip if she could have a dress!-So back to adventure isle and a few breaks then we could feel tummies rumbling so as we had stuffed so much at breakfast it was agreed on a chocolate waffle stop at Fantasia Gelati ,kids got seated with dh while I juggled 5 lots of chocolate waffles and drinks I finally got it all to the table as the characters streamed out of the side gate near IASW “characters….books…pens….quick!!” I was then trying to juggle food and drinks while dh herded kids over to get more autographs and pics ,I finally got them to all to stand still and eat before heading off to Star Tours –now this is one ride that Oscar the brave really was not going to go on so dh`s turn to sit with him and I took the other 2 on ,I thought I was being clever by holding on to the metal bit of the hand rest and nearly wrenched my hand off!!! I had forgotten how much this ride throws you about although I have read since that the middle of the back row is about the bumpiest it can get and guess where we sat! Next stop Phantom Manor-now last year we had a right palava on here as my dd HATED it and sobbed all the way through and as we were in such a rush to get her off I left my bag in the buggy so I was taking no chances here and let dh and ds (7) go on while me ,dd and ds(5 aka oscar the brave) had a nose around boot hill ,after they came off I persuaded dd that it wasn’t that bad and we went on leaving dh,ds(7) and Oscar in charge of my bag ,it was now getting on and we still had to find a dress for dd ,we checked in all the shops along the way and at our last stop of Emporium the dress was found – in the end she plumped for a reversible Belle dress at 45 euro .
We headed back to hotel to get coats and let dd change into her dress before our 6.15 reservation at Café Mickey ,got there and my friend was there with her family (dh,mum,ds(9) ds(2 ½) ) we were immediately seated upstairs and Minnie, Donald and Pinocchio appeared ,the kids loved the night and we had loads of character interaction even the grown ups were enjoying this , didn’t keep the receipt for this but we had 3 kids meals which were 15 E each ,2 had mickey pizzas and 1 had chicken nuggets ,they all had drinks in cups that you could keep with lids and straws (they are also dishwasher safe!!)dh had fish and chips which to be honest looked decidedly dodgy but was apparently really nice and I had Pinocchio’s pasta which was a large bowl of pasta dish with chicken and big chunks of veg ,it was actually the best meal I ate all week ,we got out about 8.30pm and saw 3 rounds of characters inc woody and Jessie ,someone had a birthday cake over the other side of the upstairs section and everyone joined in singing ,looked a great treat ,puddings for the kids were supposed to be either and ice cream or buffet but our server just brought them all ice creams and then said to also go to the buffet which was muffins ,smarties, sweets, lollies ,ect ..so…..obviously we filled up our pockets with sweets and lollies before going!!!
Bill was 102 E for our 5 meals and was worth every penny ,food wasn`t gourmet but it was certainly good and its worth it for the characters ,then back to the hotel having a quick stop in the Disney store which ended up with getting the potato heads which were 15 E for filling the box to which we filled and managed to get one of every piece before the box collapsed –luckily after we had paid !!
