Liz & Lorne's DIY Memories Wedding 8/7/11 *UP-dated: Hats, Shoes, flowers and more!!*

On the newsletter are recreations of Vintage WDW postcards I made with photopaper and cardstock. I enclosed self addressed envelopes with postage for so they would not get ruined int he mail (envelopes not pictured):

So, I decided to make folders with little notes to each person for our save the dates. Along with the folders, I also created envelopes for each. These were stuck into box gifts we had sent back up north to Michigan. To add a little up to the Save the Dates. I also made "Ellie" Badges for each person and Joel's wife (my DF sister-in-law whom I've never met).

This is how they turned out:

This is the folder and envelope with a vintage picture that I added a note to look inside for a special invitation from Liz and Lorne.

Subbing ... love all your DIY projects, and it's always nice to find other brides with limited budgets. :thumbsup2

I love the movie UP! And I'm loving all your plans. They're so wonderful. The button bouquets is such a great idea. Especially having the hidden mickey in it. :lovestruc

Your proposal was amazing - :lovestruc it! I'm excited to see a Memories bride here - we had a Memories vow renewal in October. Can't wait to hear more about your plans:goodvibes. Your save-the-dates look fantastic!

Congrats - love your ideas. Not sure if its any help but a while back someone did a up theme party with cake of the house etc. Everything looked fantastic. It was through this board that i saw the pics so one of the other brides may know the link but it may also give you some more ideas.

What a beautiful story :goodvibes When I was telling your story to my DF I got a little teary  I wish the two of your the most beautiful marriage!

i love the proposal, your DF sounds wonderful to have worked so hard on that proposal, it's very heartwarming.
our rings are very similar and it sounds like your date will be exactly 1 week;) after ours in the same place at the same time ! very cool, I'm going to be very inspired by your creativity ! ;)

I know I'm chiming in a little late here, but I just wanted to tell you how much I LOVE everything you've done so far. I love all of the Vintage Disney things, it looks amazing!!
And UP, so cute. One of my favorites. We are going to do the adventure book scrapbook for our wedding. And I just read that they will be coming out with a 9" UP vinylmation soon, I'm so excited!

I know I haven't posted here in a while. The last month or so has been the busiest time of year for us at the Outlets. All the Brazilian tourist have been tearing up our store for the last month. Thank God it's almost over!:worship:

So, at Christmas we sent out our Save the Dates. We were excited about my DF family going to join us for our Wedding.

Here's a little backstory. I no long have any contact with my family. Just a lot of messy business. Lorne, my DF, while not really close with his family, has always had a good relationship with them.

When we told them we were getting married (his mom had been waiting to hear this news!), they told us they would love to attend.

We thought, since they all live in Michigan that it was going to be just the two of us. But, when they said they could come, I started planning away.

I handmade our Save the Dates and eagerly waited their Pre-RSVP's.

A few weeks after christmas, we got the first pre-RSVP. She had just bought a house all on her own so we knew she probably couldn't come due to financial reasons. So, her regret was no suprise.

His brother lost his job and we knew him and his wife weren't going to be able to come. So their regret was no biggie either.

However, Lorne's Mom and Dad (step) not being able to come, even just for the weekend, was a suprise. They had come down several other times since we moved and it never seemed like a financial burden. But that was their reason. Even with 8 months notice.:confused3 We were a both a little disappointed.

Primarily, we were disappointed because from all of our converstaions, it had seemed that they were planning on coming. In fact, we thought it would just be us until they said they couldn't wait to come.

So, when we got their regret, it was a blow.

But. . . .We're getting over it and looking forward to the money we'll be saving by just having the two of us!

Next. . . Booking our Memories Collection Wedding!!!

Just a quick note! I called DFTW and talked with Vita who had left me a message this weekend. We are having our wedding at Luau Beach on August 7,2011 at 9am!

She is sending the agreement and some other info I asked for today!!

I can't wait. We already booked our two night stay at POP (we're hoping to upgrade when the AP discounts come out) and will be paying our deposit this week!!

*hugs* Dealing with the twists and turns of the guest list is never fun, but take comfort in the fact that the two most important people will be there, and really that is all that matters!!! I know you'll have a beautiful wedding and wonderful time together!!! :thumbsup2

I agree with Mindy! The two most important people are there. I do understand the disappointment though  Buuuuuut you get to spend more on a few other things! Cant wait to read more!

Thanks! :goodvibes

I was a bit bummed, but now the focus is really just on the two of us! And. . .now I don't have to stress about having things for his family to do while they are here. . . one less thing to worry about!

So, we were given our planner Vita. She's been great.

She's been answering all my questions and emails very quickly and I love working with her!

She emailed us our LOA a week or so ago. We signed it right away and I scanned a copy to send to Vita then sent the orginals to her Priority Mail. She emailed me back immediately that she received the scans and will be charging the deposit.

A day or two later, we had our planning kit. . .that I still need to finish!

Everything is moving so quick now!

So in the last week we've accomplished the following:

1. Officially booked our two night stay - Currently at Pop Century but we are planning on adding on two nights and moving to POR (our favorite resort) soon!

2. Officially booked our Memories Package Wedding - August 7,2011 at 9am on Luau Beach!!

3. We booked our officiant - Teresa Knox

4. Vita booked our Bridal Session at DHS - I'm going to send her our requests for a photographer. I think I'm am leaning towards Amy or Regina. . .but any suggestions would be appreciate.

Yay!! Alot of our big items are down. . .

I was starting to get a little overwhelmed with all the things I needed to do and make and buy and book. . . .:scared1:

So, I bought myself a calendar with a lot of room to write. For each month, I've written the things I need to Buy, Make or Book. This helped me see that there were only a few things each month that I needed to do. Plus it let me focus on the item in the correct order. It's been working like a charm and now I don't feel as stressed.

To show you all the DIY items I plan on doing and all my plans I have laid down, I'll be posting those as I start/finish them here in my PJ.

My next post. . . my dress!!

Ok, so I'm a bride on a budget.

We never thought we would be able to afford a Disney Wedding so budget has always been a concern.

Luckily or unluckily, I've never wanted a long traditional wedding dress. I'm only 5'2" and thought I would feel overwhelmed with a long dress. So, I started looking online.

Soon I fell in love with a dress;
dressinspiration2.jpg

dressinspiration.jpg

It's very me and retro so it fits my theme. But, it is made by a UK designer, Lizzie Jayne, and is way out of my budget.

As I specifically started looking for Retro tea length dresses, they were all beautiful but still out of my range!:scared1:

Then, I started looking at bridesmaid dress and it hit me. Why not look for a tea length/cocktail length white bridesmaid dress? There are many more shorter bridesmaid dresses and they are much closer to my price range.

So. . . I found an Alfred Sung dress I love in Snow White (sorry the only pictures I have are in Jade):

weddingdressinjadenotwhite.jpg

It's cocktail length which is at the knee. However, in my size the skirt length makes it hit me more below the knee. Which makes it perfect!

Plus, the dress has pockets!!! That's the feature that sold me. I plan on making my own sash for the dress that will be made of pink taffeta and will be able to tie in the front or back like my inspiration dress.

Plus, I found this petticoat in raspberry to put under the dress:

pinkpetticoat.jpg

Disregard the dress in the pic. I am just getting the petticoat. Plus, since I'm crafty, I might change the flat pleats on the dress to a simple gather to accommodate the petticoat better.

Here are my shoes that I found with the fabric I will be using for the sash:

pics006.jpg

I'm worried about these shoes on the beach, but it will be a short ceremony and i do love them!

pics002.jpg

So, with the dress, the petticoat, the fabric for the sash, and my shoes. . .my total for my ensemble so far is: $250!! that's under my $300 budget for my dress alone!

The dress is ordered and I can't wait to see it in May!

Next post. . . . DIY projects!

So, with me being crafty (I'm currently trying to get my etsy site established) and our budget always a concern. . . I've opted to do many things myself.

Here's the list so far for my DIY projects for the wedding and the reception:

1. An "UP" house for our reception and possibly wedding pictures.

2. A button bouquet for our DHS bridal shoot!

3. My Jewelry for the wedding (not our wedding bands though).

4. A retro inspired mickey mouse ear hat and baseball cap.

5. Cupcake/Cake for at home wedding reception - possibly, not certain.

6. "Up" themed Large Vinylmation - possibly not certain

7. Vintage Disney World Themed reception invitations

8. Ellie Badge Favors and Cookie Favors.

9. Balloon wreath for reception

This is just the list so far. . .:lmao: I might buy some of these things on etsy but most likely will do them myself. Who needs sleep?

So this is where I am so far:

1. Up House:

I actually have finished this one. Here are my supplies:

Here is the finished product:

2. Button Bouquet:

This one is finished too! But now I'm planning on doing a button boutineer too!

The pictures of this I posted above. Here's the link: http://www.disboards.com/showpost.php?p=39313409&postcount=18

3. My jewelry for the wedding:

These earrings (from forever 21 for only $1.50!) and this necklace are my inspiration for my wedding jewelry:

These are the supplies I've purchased so far:
jewelerysupplies.jpg

I'll be adding pink crystals and pearls to the mix and make both a necklace and a bracelet. Plus, I'll be embellishing the forever 21 earrings with a little pink as well.

4. Mickey ears

Here is my inspiration for my hat:
mickeyears.jpg

and these are the hat forms I might use instead of just the circle one from the inspiration pic:

mickeyearsbuckram.jpg

mickeyearsheadband.jpg

These are ears I bought at DTD for only $0.75 each!:

whitemickeyears.jpg

My DF will be a baseball cap with ears but I'm not sure what it will look like.

9. Balloon Wreath
I found directions for making this and a co-worker has a storage bin of balloons that I can have for free:

Well that's it for this post!

Next post . . . Dining for our Wedding Day!

I love the updates!! Your dress is so cute! Can't wait to see it with everything done:goodvibes

I love your DIY projects and I'm really excited to see how that cute balloon wreath will turn out!! :thumbsup2
