Living with GSD and questions on accommodations needed

I couldn't find a specific thread which answered my questions.

I have Glycogen Storage Disease which comes with some odd accommodations. I cannot stand in one spot for longer than 10-15 min without my blood sugar dropping and me passing out. The flip side is I can walk around for hours and be fine. It's only when stopped or barely moving that I have problems.

I've read that they put stamps on the GAC to explain what you need. Is there a way to get the GAC to explain that I need a waiting area where I can sit or my companion can wait in line while I find somewhere to sit and then join her when she gets to the front? We will be fastpassing wherever possible but long lines are my concern as we're going the week after Easter Sunday.

Also for attractions which are standing only such as Reflections of China do I have to skip them or are there options? I missed this last time because I was tired by the time we got there and didn't know about the GAC.

My other question is about meals. I eat several small meals a day and have to constantly snack. As such I don't eat big meals. We're not on the dining plan because of this. Will most restaurants let me order from the child's menu if I explain my situation or will they prepare a 1/2 order for me? I hate to see food wasted because i'm forced to order the adult portion and only eat 1/2 of it. They can even watch me during a buffet if they want. I'll only eat one plate lol.

Thanks for all help!

If you use Fast Pass you shouldn't have to wait more than five minutes or so at any attraction. Many of the attractions with an alternate waiting area load in a different place than the regular line, so your friend would ahve to stay with you. Where I see you having the biggest problems is places that have a preshow, although in most of them you can stay towards the back and wander a bit to keep moving. The Little Mermaid and Muppets are probably the two you'd need to be most cautious with, they fill up those preshow rooms pretty full.

Also for attractions which are standing only such as Reflections of China do I have to skip them or are there options? I missed this last time because I was tired by the time we got there and didn't know about the GAC.

Well, you could spea to the CM, but in general if you sit on the floor, you'll be blocked by others, and not see the entire movie. Not sure how they could work around this. Maybe go very early or very late in teh day when there will be less people there.

At buffets be prepared to pay full price. At most table service and all counter service you can order a kids meal. SOME table service will make half portions of SOME adult meals. Could you split an entree with your companion and they could supplement their meal with an appetizer or dessert? A lot of the entrees are large enough to easily feed two people with smaller or average appetites.

I can't see them having any problems issuing you with a GAC to use alternative waiting areas. If you haven't already, have a look at the FAQ for more information on GACs, how to get them, how to use them etc.

Are you all right when your sitting for long periods of time? If so, have you considered getting one of those walking sticks that fold out into a little stool, so that you can sit during pre-shows, circle 360s etc? Here's a result I found from google, just to give you an idea of what I mean: http://www.made-in-china.com/showro...TJHG/China-Walking-Seat-Cane-Stick-Chair.html
I realise you don't need the walking stick for support, but it might be a convenient way to carry a stool around.

In general, if you explain your situation politely to a CM, they'll do their best to accommodate you needs. I have read on here before about people who've recently undergone surgery, being allowed to have a kid's plate for the buffets. There's no harm in asking, anyway.

Good luck and have a great time :goodvibes !

Thank you for the suggestion of the walking stick/stool. That could be right up my alley!

I'm ok to sit for hours, it's just the standing in one spot. There is a technical name for the symptom which I can't remember right now.

thanks for all the help!

Here's to a magical time!
