Living Seas Theming Destroyed by Nemo

I liked the new attraction. What I hate is the Turtle Talk que that takes up the whole floor. It's nearly impossible to get around and it makes the place feel so crowded. :sad2:

I haven't been on the ride yet, and will of course give it a try next trip. I do feel that the Pixar movies are in too many places throughout Walt Disney World. Nemo now has this and a new musical in AK, when Nemo wasn't a musical to begin with. I like Buzz of course, but Pixar is everywhere. If I had to redo the attraction, (I would not want to), I would have used the Little Mermaid rather than Finding Nemo. Little Mermaid will always be more popular because it is a musical, involves a princess, and has a well established fan base that has been maintained for years. Nemo was a nice movie, but after the first few viewings, it got a bit old. The hype for that movie really died down since it came out. Monsters Inc and the Incredibles and both Toy Stories were better movies, IMO.

The Living Seas was designed as a research facility that provides public access. I agree that it needed a boost, but I think that too much of the original intent was taken away. That said:

My kids loved the new 'feel' of the Living Seas.

I am glad that WDW opted to put a new 'face' on The Living Seas- I just wish they would have kept the original name.

The new name just sounds too campy and opportunistic and does not fit in with the overall theme of Future World.

What's next? The Land with Flik?

I think a lot of people are forgetting that this is a very MINOR attraction that was just intended to spruce up an area that was getting older and tired. it's not intended to blow your mind like Mission: Space, and they were limited to an existing track and things that would not disrupt the hundreds of actual residents of the pavillion so they couldn't do a massive building rennovation. it is designed to be a "well that was cute" thing, nothing more. The only BIG deals about it is a.) it's new and b.) it's Disney. :goodvibes

I'm sorry to hear that many of the reports are so unfavorable :( . I really was looking forward to them doing a great connection between the educational aspect of the living seas and the fun of the Nemo characters. Personally, I think it is a great idea to use something that kids know and love to draw them into learning more about a topic that they may not be able to relate to otherwise. I know that my kids were much more excited about seeing the jellyfish, clownfish, etc because they already knew about them from the Nemo movie.

I'm still looking forward to experiencing it myself though!

As mentioned above, we were told yesterday that the ride will be the only entrance to the aquarium. Of course, I'm sure there is always some type of exception.

If this were true, I don't think I'd ever enter the attraction, if I had to wait in any kind of line.

We went this weekend as well and enjoyed it. DS loved the new ride and was enthralled the whole time. We have also seen them use the dive tube recently and have seen divers in the tanks with the fish.

There will be divers in with the sea life at least twice per day. It is called Dive Quest. Certified Divers can pay $140+ to dive in there. Most divers agree that it is the most concentrated area of sea life, even better than open water diving.

There is also something called Dolphins in Depth where folks can pay to work/swim with the Dolphins in the Tank.

So yes, there will always be divers in the tanks!

Oh yea, when we went yesterday between 6:30 and 7pm, we saw dolphins and divers while on the new Nemo attraction!! That was so cool! I also loved listening to what Peach has to say.

Thanks for the opinion, but I'm looking forward to seeing it for myself. I'm not a huge fan of Nemo, but I can think of worse themes. Different strokes for different folks........

Ditto to that....there will always be divers in the tank. I got to be in the tank just 2 weeks ago. DiveQuest puts people in there 1-2x a day, Aqua Seas Tour is in there one other time a day, etc. Plus there are CMs who will do some of the feedings as well.

We were in the tank around 5:30, so that is probably a good time to hang around if you are interested in seeing them.

There is an in-depth review of the new experience over at mice age:

Kevin seemed to really enjoy it. Frankly, I still find the queue disappointing. The themeing can only entertain young ones for a few moments.

Obviously, I agree more with the points of his friend at the end. I didn't find the ride that engrossing, but perhaps he rode several times to try and capture more detail for his report.

I have to say I was disappointed today with the Nemo attraction. It was closed due to technical difficulties. Don't know if it opened up or will open later today, but at 1pm when I left, it was still closed. :(
