Living Seas Question

OK, this may be a stupid question, but does the Living Seas still have the "ride" part for the attraction? We went last August and skipped the movie, got on the hydrolaters and BAM, we were in the walking part of the aquarium. I remember years ago it had a "ride" similar to Spaceship Earth's. Is this still there? Did we just miss it because we skipped the movie?

Thanks!

MY DW tells me there used to be some sort of a ride there years (and years) ago but it is no longer there. I have no other information but am curious to know what kind of ride it may have been?!?

Last summer when we went there they had the ride part not working.I'm not sure if they were getting rid of it or not. The year before it was there. We liked that part. We will be there in August this year.

Gosh, the sea cabs weren't THAT long ago! They were a fairly short omnimover that took you from the hydrolaters to the seabase, riding through viewing windows out to the sea around the seabase.

They've walled them up, and now walk you through the gift shop to get into the seabase. I've never heard a good explanation why - it wouldn't take many more cast members to run the seacabs, but I guess it was some sort of cost cutting move?

I wish they'd bring them back, it seems lame to walk in through the gift shop.

Actually, the area that used to have the "ride" is just walk through now. It isn't just that they are walled up - the whole track area is gone and you just walk into this room and that room and view the tanks by walking through. It is pretty lame. I can't believe they still have this whole attraction going. We just go in there if we are trying to kill time before lunch at Garden Grill or waiting for WS to open.

It was open 3 yrs ago. Don't know if I'd consider that yrs and yrs ago.

Yes, the sea cabs have been gone for a little while now but really they were nothing spectacular to begin with. It was a painfully short ride that really wasn't worth the effort to sit down in before you had to get back off. It did, however, beat having to go through the gift shop first. The last time I was there, (March 2002) the entrance where you went on the sea cabs was completely blocked off. If you hadn't been on them before you never would realize that they were gone. Kind of like what they do with the entrance to "timekeeper" when it isn't open. It's almost invisible.

I hoped at the time that they would, at least, open the through the aquarium passage to walk through. Perhaps they have by now. In short, the "cabs" were no great loss, really!

last May there was a lot of work going on at the living seas. Perhaps they did open the tunnel up to walk through as a few have reported here.

I was just there this past monday and it is still walled off. The CM had no information as to why this was done or what was going to become of the tunnel.

Well, you know that the main parts of the seabase were always walk through - the sea cabs was just a short space in the first part; I don't think you can walk through that area now - are you sure that the track is pulled up? I'm thinking that was an omnimover track, and if it is like other omnimovers there is a machinary under the track - it was so short, though, and small, I'm not sure if there was machinary under it like other omnimovers or not - but anyway, I didn't know that the cabs and track had been totally removed - are you sure?

Also, actually, two weeks ago they had a couple of small new displays in the side rooms. I kind of like it and don't think it is that lame.
