"Living on Less" Blog Series - Who's In??

$105 Trader Joe's grocery haul video is now live! In the first post!

New Trader Joe's Haul! Link is posted in the first post.

ALSO- BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GROCERY RECEIPTS! I was doing math in the store, and was SURE that I was only going to have to pay $100.54 ($0.54 over budget this week), but the bill was $104.22! Turns out, I was charged twice for an item, so always check!! All I have to do is bring the receipt back to the store and they'll give me my $3.68 back.

One time Trader Joe's charged me for 44 bananas instead of the 4 I bought!

I cannot find raw milk cheddar at our Trader Joes :( I would like to try that. And I am also obsessed with the plantain chips! I like to dip them in the creamy goat cheese!

Just found your thread, want to catch up on the videos when I have a chance. Our closest Trader Joe's is 30 minutes away so I don't get there as often as I'd like, but love a lot of their stuff (and prices). It also makes me want to eat better (we eat meat, sugar and too much processed food but I can't seem to "clean up" on a long term basis.

One question and maybe I missed it: how many people is your $100 a week feeding?

We have four in our family and the boys (13 and 11) are huge eaters these days. My shopping, including cat food/supplies, paper goods and cleaning items averages $200 a week and that's AFTER sales and coupons. And we cook most every day, with sometimes grabbing something for lunch on the weekend after a swim meet.

There's only two of us, no children or pets. I have paper goods/cleaning in a separate budget. I understand eating too much sugar and processed food... I had to go on a long winding journey to cut that out of my diet.

First, I ate like a "typical" American... lots of items from boxes, cans, bags, and take out windows.

Then I joined Weight Watchers, lost a ton of weight but turned gaunt and gray because I was still eating processed food, just in "low fat" versions. Not healthy.

Then, I started transitioning to "organic" versions of the processed foods, or items that had no more than 5 ingredients... all that I could pronounce. I kept the weight off and got my energy back. I cut one processed food item out per week, and EVENTUALLY, got to the point where I am now.

We eat whole foods, with simple meals. I make a lot from scratch (and have a lot of recipes on my youtube channel), and really don't make fancy extravagant meals anymore. A simple egg and veggie omelet cooked in coconut oil or a fruit and veggie smoothie for breakfast, salad with some sort of meat or fish for lunch, and some sort of meat and veggies or rice for dinner serves us well.

Good luck!! :goodvibes

New video link is posted in the first post! DIY weed killer- it really works!! :cool1: :thumbsup2

Let us know if the weed recovers since that formula won't penetrate to the roots. I am going to try it too! Just remember keep it away from the veggie garden and plants/grass you like.
We don't use any weed killer....no weed and feed. We don't want to support Monsanto and damage the earth. But pulling weeds is getting old....hoping your formula does the trick :)

Thanks for the video!
