Living in Disney means FOOD! My Disney Fine Dining Adventure: UPDATE The Wave

You're right, you can't beat free dining! Tusker and the GF Cafe are both excellent choices. I am sure you will enjoy them immensely! Give Donald a hug for me, okay? :) What other places are you checking out?

We also have reservations for O'hana, Tony's, and 50's prime time! I hope those are good ones! I wanted Be our Guest, but Was unable to snag it eventhough I check EVERYDAY. LOL I havent planned our Quick Service meals yet.

You've got some awesome choices! Personally, I prefer Sci Fi over 50's, but that's just me :) don't give up on BOG, if you don't have a huge party, you can always check the day of. Be at the podium early, like around 4pm, or late, around 9pm, and they may be able to get you in :) yay for Disney planning and free dining!

You are so welcome! It is my pleasure :) I love those magical moments, they make Disney for me. Sounds like Flame Tree has some pretty awesome CMs! :) Glad you had a good time, and thanks for stopping by! :)

Tusker House has always been a favorite breakfast spot of mine! Thanks for the review and the pics!

In addition to the normal foods, there was also a taste of Africa, such as some interesting oatmeals, and these really yummy sweet cheese wraps.

These sweet cheese rolls were wonderful. They came with a strawberry or apple topping, but I preferred them plain.

I agree that the breakfast at Tusker House is grand. But those "sweet cheese rolls" are not a taste of Africa. They're more like a taste of Russia. They are called blintzes or cheese blintzes. They originated in Eastern Europe and were mainly introduced to Americans by Jewish immigrants. You'll find them on breakfast buffets, at least in larger urban areas, all across America.

Thanks for the giggle, though. And I love your photos; please do keep updating us on your Disney meal adventures.

Thanks for setting me straight! As we were at Tusker House, and I had never seen them before, I figured they were from some part of Africa. :) Learn something new every day! :)

Hello everyone! I am so sorry for this extended break from reviews! The Holiday Season at Disney just sucks the life out of everything else :) Don't get me wrong, it is my favorite time of year, it just means I don't have much time for anything besides long hours, amazing parades, cookies, and fireworks ;) So, back to business: here's a review of one of my favorite hidden spots, the Wave at the Contemporary!

This breakfast buffet is fantastic. More than that, its a fairly good priced option, and seeing that it is right next to Magic Kingdom you can't beat the location. Even better, there is never a need for a ADR, making this the perfect last-minute breakfast stop!

The decor is modern, echoing the Contemporary's feel. The blue lights make you feel as if you heading underwater, below the waves. Chic and suave, the Wave is relaxing and prepares you for the fantastic meal you are about to enjoy.

Aren't these lamps awesome?

The decor aside, the food is the real reason to frequent The Wave. This time around, we sampled all the breakfast delicacies, but I have heard that dinner is pretty fantastic as well. Breakfast is a mix of healthy and decadent, along with some healthy disguised as decedent. My favorites included the Sweet Potato Pancakes, Bread Pudding, and the ever popular Mickey Waffles. Are you ready for some Disney Buffet Spam? :)

The picture is horrible, but they have square plates!

Multi Grain Mickey Waffles. So you can feel healthy while eating the best waffles in the world. ;)

Check out the Bread Pudding in the bottom corner! Ohhhh, my mouth is watering just thinking about it....

Regular whipped butter and an amazing honey pecan butter. The honey pecan one made the pancakes taste incredible!

Don't forget the healthy stuff!

I cannot believe I did not get a picture of the Sweet Potato Pancakes! They literally tasted like Christmas in my mouth. So much more amazing than I ever anticipated! If you make it to The Wave for breakfast, promise me you will enjoy one for me!

The modern style buffet

Overall, our time at The Wave was spectacular. The buffet includes your drink, which is always wonderful. Breakfast is never better than with a Diet Coke! The really cool thing about The Wave is you can get individual entrees as well. Knowing my passion for food, we went for the buffet, but if a member of your party doesn't like what the spread offers, they can always order an individual meal.

If you have an pin traders in the group, make sure to check out the pin board at the podium

This is a lovely hidden spot for a chic meal while on your way to the Magic Kingdom. And the best part, you don't need an ADR! Eat a pancake for me, okay? :)

Make sure to go get some amazing castle pictures after breakfast! It's only a few minutes walk away

Thank you, I am adding Wave to our list for May/June. We currently have one breakfast ADR so this will be perfect.

We were thinking about doing the Wave on our next trip. Does the buffet have a pretty good selection? Nothing on the a la carte menu sounded outstanding to me, so i'd probably go for the buffet- but just wondering if it was really worth it :)

Wow that all looks good. Makes me rethink. We use the dining plan so breakfast is not something we do more then once a trip. Would love me a healthy Mickey waffle.

Yay! I hope you enjoy it :) And seriously, eat a sweet potato pancake for me!

I honestly loved it, and I would tell you if I didn't. There are some places I would never return, but this isn't one of them. ;) If I didn't have too many restaurants to try, I would go back! This buffet has all your typical foods: sausage, eggs, bacon, waffles, bagels, cereals, bread puddings, eggs benedict, salmon, fruits, pancakes, pastries, biscuits and gravy, oatmeal, cheese and grits, and sticky buns, among anything else they put out. The spread and the proximity to MK was a plus for me. I was so full at the end of it, the only plausible option was to walk it off through Magic Kingdom. It is also generally fairly well priced at $19.99 for the adult buffet. And when you are considering Disney prices and the fact that this includes a drink, it was worth it to me. If you decide to try it, let me know what you think!

It is super yummy! But I totally get that, when I'm on the DDP, my breakfast usually consists of Pop Tarts in the room. But those Mickey Waffles are worth a lot, in my humble opinion... ;) If you try it, I hope you enjoy it as much as we did!
