So we get home tonight (my sister drove) & there's a bright orange sticker on my car. At first I thought that maybe they mistakenly thought I had parked in a reserved parking space. To my surprise it was something else.

Here's what the sticker read:

Your car has been tagged because of a:
(X) Invalid Inspection.
If this problem isn't fixed by 4/12/03, your car will be towed from our apartment complex.

My inspection expiration was the end of March. Most of you know about my work situation & I've been waiting for this credit card to arrive so I could take care of the minor things like that while reserving my actual cash for rent, etc. They also tagged the cars of a couple elderly couples in our building as well.

Meanwhile there's a message from them asking if there's any problems with the apartment. The first maintenance call was made when we moved in May of 2000. Granted I didn't pester them, but I figured that 2 calls should be the most I'd have to make. And since then other things have needed maintenance. Every lease renewal I brought it up & got a "ok, we'll make a note of it."

A few months ago we received a survey call about the apartments. I told them that I feel safe here but that they have horrible follow-through on maintenance calls. So I guess they decide that if they're going to act like this they better get their act together as well.

Crummy way to start getting their act together!

I'd think the apartment issues were more important than the parking issues, myself!

{HUGS} Jeff! Start complaining more, maybe something important will get fixed!

:)

Oh & now I have sticker gunk all over the window too.

I guess it'll make the decision on whether to renew or not really easy.

I hate apartments. They have no respect for tenants or their possessions. *HUGS* to you, Jeff.

Jeff... I do not know the whole story... but I would get on the phone and start making some noise about what needs to be done in the apartment.. The squeaky wheel gets the oil...if there is work to be done in maintenance, they need to do that or you need to start holding back part of the rent... :(

I have a better one for you Jeff, we live in a comunity where I'm not allowed to keep a car in my own driveway unless it's inspected and registered, and I own my house!
I pay the mortgage and taxes on it but the association tells me what I can or cannot do in MY property. I have a spare car that I do not keep insured because it sits on the driveway the majority of the time so I don't insure it either unless I really have to , if I have to do that it's only one phone call I have to make.
BUT so that I don't get in trouble since I don't have a garage they told me that I could throw a tarp over it and cover it. How pretty that may look on my yard, I told them that the day the pay my mortgage and taxes, that's the day they can start to decide what to do and not to do here.
