Live @ WDW with a 14 week old infant

I am THRILLED that it is going so well for you! It also sounds like you are getting tons of exercise running around, too! Letting go and accepting help is difficult, but it is well worth it in the end. Enjoy the rest of your trip!

Woo! Another great day here at WDW. Lillian is going to be so bummed when we go home. She's really been a happy baby here.

Aside from a 1:30am feeding, she slept until almost 8am this morning, which is pretty much unheard of. My brother et. al. also slept in because they were at MK until very late last night. The rode Splash three times in a row w/o getting off because they were the only people on the ride! My nieces would have gone for a fourth time, but their parents had had enough. ;)

We took the boat from the Boardwalk to DHS and before even having breakfast, Kira, my 7 year old niece, wanted to ride Rock-n-Roller Coaster. She had been talking about going on this ride all week and just couldn't wait anymore. This is the first year that she's tall enough for it, so she was super excited. I got to take her on it while Hedi and Kylie watched Lillian.

Kira had a blast on RnR. She's such a little thrill seeker. I hate to think what she's going to be like at age 17, since she's such a dare devil now. She was laughing through the whole ride. It was fun to take her on it.

Heidi was waiting with Lillian by the restrooms in the RnR plaza. She said that Lillian was chatting and smiling with everyone who passed by. Apparently people would walk by and hear Lillian, stop and say "Awww" and smile at her. My little ham. :lovestruc

To get Lillian out of the heat, we headed for the Great Movie Ride, but had to stop for breakfast at Starring Rolls. I had never eaten there before, but I certainly will be back! We're on the Quick Service dining plan, or Feeding Plan as my brother calls it, and I got a massive turkey sandwich, chips (or fruit) a bottle of water and a blueberry muffin. I now have a blueberry muffin for breakfast tomorrow. Way too much food, but very tasty.

Lillian was mostly ok on the GMR, but didn't really care for the Munchkins that much. What was really funny was at the end where they show the movie clips, she kept turning her head from side to side to see all of the different movies. It was quite cute.

My favorite ride at DHS is TSMM, so we absolutely had to do that next. It was about 11:00 and the standby line was only 20 minutes! I've never seen it less than 45 minutes before. I put Lillian in the Bjorn and rode with Kira. Lillian wasn't impressed with TSMM, she fell asleep half way through! I can't believe that she can sleep through all that noise. OH..and my score - 164,342, a Cat. The high score for the day was set by a 14 year old at park opening - 401,993! How is that even possible?!

Kylie, my 10 year old niece is a born performer and she really wanted to see the American Idol Experience. We got there around 11:30 and the show started at 12:00. They have a 15 minute pre-show outside the attraction and a 15 minute pre-show inside the building. Kylie made sure that she was in the front row for when the cameras scanned the people waiting outside.

We enjoyed the show and thought it was really well done. Lillian loved watching the lights and I bounced her along with the music. The person won who we thought should win, although I do think it's bizzare that some of the contestants get special videos about themselves before they sing and others don't.

By 1:00 it was super hot and humid, so we took the boat back to Boardwalk. My brother's family just grabbed their swimsuits and went pool hopping over to Coronado Springs resort. Lil and I cooled off in the villa, did some laundry and then when she decided that she wasn't going to nap, we went over to Epcot. She fell asleep in the Bjorn as soon as I stepped outside the building. Maybe she just needs the Florida heat to fall asleep?

I wanted to pick up more sushi for my dinner, so we headed over to Japan. While I was there, I saw the drummers and FINALLY got to see the candy lady. I've never seen her before. She made the most amazing animals out of that sugar mixture. Really interesting to watch.

After grabbing my sushi,Lil woke up and we headed back to the resort. I was getting nervous about the look of the sky, but we made it back ok. I even stopped at a couple shops and picked up a cute onesie with "Mine, Mine Mine!" written on it. I got a matching shirt for my wife, so Lil and her can dress alike. :thumbsup2 Lil charmed the ladies at the shop. She can be so cute and was very patient with me while I shopped.

At the Boardwalk, I stopped into Seashore Sweets and found out that their ice cream is a Snack Credit. Score! Snacks are also anything in their candy case and a lot of their pre-packaged items. I was planning on going back later for ice cream, but the skies opened up with a huge storm.

My brother's family got stuck on the Friendship boat during the thunderstorm. I didn't realize that the boats don't run if there is lightening. They finally made it back after spending 45 minutes on a stopped boat. Bummer.

With the rain and the late nights they've been having, we're all having an early evening. After much quiet protesting, Lillian finally went to bed at around 8:30. She was really funny. I'd hold her in my arms until her little eyes were closed and then lay her down on the bed. As soon as her head hit the bed, those eyes would fly open, she'd give me a huge smile and start talking. :rotfl: So, I'd pick her back up, try not to laugh and get her back to sleep again. We did that 3 times. Heh. Hopefully she'll stay asleep for real now.

Not sure what we're doing tomorrow. We may go to AK as Kira really wants to ride Mt. Everest. AK is the park I'm most worried about taking Lillian to as it is always 10-20 degrees hotter than any of the other parks. There are very few indoor attractions to cool her off in too. So, if we go, I hope we go early and I'll leave with her early as well. I'd also like to go over to Kidani to check it out, so that may be something I'll do while the rest of the family stays at the park.

Now, off to get a good night's sleep to the delightful sound of thunder.

I'm so happy for you that Lillian is having such a good time! It sounds like you guys are having an amazing time!

I am glad to see that you have had another couple of great days.

As for AK lodge you could spend an hour just walking around their lobby looking at things. So have a great time. :thumbsup2

I am so happy for you that everything is going really well. i hope the rest of your trip is as great!!!

Well, all good things must come to an end. Our streak of good days had a bit of a bump yesterday, but we all survived.

When we woke up in the morning (5:30am baby time ugh), it was cloudy and very humid. Sure enough, it poured for most of the morning. My brother and family wanted to go to MK, so we waited for a break in the rain and got on a bus to MK. By the time we got there, it was pouring again. Heidi tried to figure out a way to cover the stroller, but it just wasn't going to happen. I didn't feel ok about having a 3 month old exposed to all that rain, so I headed back to the Boardwalk.

Little bit of Disney Magic though, a CM saw me waiting for a bus with Lillian in the Bjorn and the collapsed stroller next to me. He called dispatch and requested a bus for Boardwalk, waited with me and helped me get the stroller on board. The bus driver unloaded the stroller for me at Boardwalk. Super nice!

Lil and I had some time in the room and then when it looked better outside, I put her back in the Bjorn, left the stroller in the room and headed back to MK. We met up with the family coming out of Philharmagic and took Lil on the Carousel, Peter Pan & Small World. She loved Small World. It was super cute the way she was checking out all of the dolls.

We also went on Haunted Mansion, which was not a good experience. Lil was hungry and the bottle I had was nearly empty. I let her suck on the nearly empty bottle, which would come back to haunt me later. (pun intended). Once I fed her outside the ride, she was a happier baby and she enjoyed the Country Bears singing.

The girls wanted to go on Splash Mountain, so we headed that way and it started to rain again. I had a poncho that I put on over Lil and I (with the neck part ripped down so she could breathe). I just didn't feel comfortable covering my baby with plastic, so I decided to head out of MK. This was a mistake as the rain only lasted 3-4 minutes and then it was a beautiful sunny day. Bah.

On the way out, I stopped and got Lil her first set of Mickey Ears. I'll have to post a picture of her in her Mickey Mouse Club shirt and ears. It's too cute.

I had wanted to check out Kidani, so we hopped on an Animal Kingdom Lodge bus and road over to the resort. Umm..hmmm..not a very pretty resort. I'm pretty bummed about it because I had such high hopes for it. The majority of the building is an ugly, bland gray/brown color and it looks like an institution. The pool is next to the parking lot and granted, once you are in the pool area, it's lovely. However, walking outside the resort to get to the pool is just weird. Very disappointing.

We stopped at Jambo House briefly to go to The Mara to grab some hummus for later and then went to AK to catch the Boardwalk bus. Now, this was a lot for poor Lil, but she was hanging in there. She had a couple naps and snacks in the Bjorn, but this was the longest she'd ever been stuck in there before.

When we got back to the Boardwalk, she was so happy to be out of the Bjorn and was squeeling and rolling all over the bed. Happy baby. My brother called and said that they were at Epcot, so I stuck the poor baby back in the Bjorn and went to FS. Mistake! Lil and I should have just called it a day at that point.

She was good for awhile and then my brother held her while I rode Soarin with my nieces. When I came out she was screaming and my brother said that it felt like she had gas pains. I took her and we started to walk to WS.

By the time we hit Canada, she was out of control screaming. I actually got really scared because she was screaming in a way I have never heard her scream before.I took her out of the Bjorn in case something was pinching her but that didn't help. I race walked her through WS and the I-Gatway and back to our room. That was a very long walk. People kept turning and staring at me because she was making the most awful screams.

I gave her some Tylenol and walked her around the room for about an hour before she finally calmed down and was crying in her usual way. Phew! I was just about to see if I could get her to a doctor when she fell asleep.

The family came back to the room around 8:00 and my brother brought me some dinner. However, I wasn't able to eat it b/c as soon as I put her down, Lil woke right back up and started crying again. She needed me to just hold her. The poor girl was so overwhelmed. Too much Disney and mom letting her suck air on a nearly empty bottle was just not a good combination.

She finally fell deep asleep around 9:30, was up for 30 minutes at a time at 1:30, 2:30, 5:30 and up for the day at 8:00. Ugh. I'm tired today!

I've decided that we're not going to the parks today, but are going to have a very easy day just hanging out at the Boardwalk with maybe a short trip to Epcot to pick up some lunch. My brother's family is at MGM and we're just hanging in the room. I think she needs some chill time. Kind of a bummer for me, but I'd rather have a quiet day than a repeat of last night. Poor kid.

We just have today and tomorrow and then we leave for the long flight home on Saturday.

Forgot to add the picture. ;)

So sorry to hear about the bump in the road! Hopefully it will go better today!

Sad to hear you had a bad day, but it sounds like you worked it through.

I am loving your live report.

I remember those sleepless nights - I called it the "Sleep Deprivation Experiment." And I had 4 in five years.... I remember DD10 (child #3) as an infant - I had to put her to bed with half a dropper of Baby Tylenol and a dropper of Phazyme just to get her to sleep. I think I did this for the better part of 6 months. You may want to give that a try if she seems to have a pattern of gassiness towards the evening.

Enjoy the rest of your trip. I think you made the right decision. The hardest part for me with babies in the house was not having a adult to talk to (I was lucky enough to quit work when DD13 was born).

Phew! We just got home tonight and Lillian did great on the plane again. She kinda lost it the last 30 minutes, but otherwise she played and was happy.

The last couple days at Disney were quiet ones for Lil and I. After her melt down, I decided that we were pushing it y pending so much time in the parks and she really needed more down time.

So, Thursday she and I hung out in the room and she got some nice good naps until I was going stir crazy around 1:00. I sat on the balcony most of the morning with her, watched people swim in the pool and the boats going to DHS. She and I then took a walk from the Boardwalk to DHS and road TSMM. Love that game! I was going to meet up with my brother's family, but they were leaving the park after spending the morning there. After riding one ride, it was time to go back to the Boardwalk. My how having an infant changes things.

It was so hot that I decided to take the boat back to the Boardwalk. Well, the boat broke! We were given the choice of staying on the boat to wait for a new boat without A/C or walking to the Boardwalk. Guess which one I took? It was a hot, but nice walk back to the Boardwalk.

My brother's family also walked back and arrived dripping with sweat. They headed down to the pool and I gave Lil a bath to cool her down. She had another nice nap after her bath, so she was feeling pretty good for a night out.

We headed out to MK and one again, every ride was a walk-on! My nieces rode the TeaCups 5 times in a row! With my sister-in-law's encouragement, I took Lil on the Tea Cups without spinning them, and she loved it! I think she likes the feeling of the wind.

She fell asleep in the Bjorn around 9:00pm and I thought about heading back to the Boardwalk, but I really wanted to see Wishes. I decided that if she freaked out during the fireworks, we'd just leave. Well, she slept through Wishes! Woohoo! I love Wishes. It always makes me cry.

We caught the Beach Club bus back and I walked my niece to the Boardwalk while my brother did some shopping. It was a wonderfully warm, humid night and the quiet walk in the dark was just lovely. There's something so nice about walking around Disney at night. Maybe it's because it feels so safe.

I got Lil settled for bed around midnight and I knew it was going to be a short night for me, but it was so worth it!

One more day left! What did we do on our last day at Disney? Coming up next!

I've really enjoyed reading your posts; I'm so happy for you that Lillian, overall, did great. Can't wait to read about your final day!

As with all weeks at Disney, this week went by way to fast. I woke up Friday morning (well, was woken up at 3am, 5am and 7am) and couldn't believe it was our last day. My brother's family slept late since they could. I long for the day when I'll be allowed to sleep more than 2 hours at a time.

We had a lazy morning, relaxing in the room and hanging out at the pool. I had ordered a birthday cake for Heidi from the Boardwalk bakery. Since her youngest daughter is allergic to dairy, I asked if they could make a dairy free cake. To my delight, they could! It was a delicious chocolate cake and there was no way to tell that it was dairy free. It was so moist and delicious that we all had two pieces for breakfast. Great way to start the day.

I left the room through my brother's door when they went down to the pool. I wanted to go to the Screen Door to use up the last of my snack credits on goodies to take home. I had no idea that Wonka bars were considered a snack credit! Score!

When Lil and I got back to the room, my key didn't work. I went back downstairs with a baby in need of a nap and got a new key. Back to the room and the key STILL didn't work. Back to the front desk again. Well, they figured it out. When I left through my brother's door, I had forgotten that I had the dead bolt on my door. Woops. By this time, Lil was asleep in my arms, so I figured we'd head to the pool and sit in the shade while she napped.

I found my brother and sister-in-law and I enjoyed people watching while the baby slept. It was a very comfortable temp in the shade, I was quite surprised. Even though I only got to swim once while at Disney, I still enjoyed the Luna pool. There's just something so relaxing about laying around a pool.

After the baby woke up, my brother's family decided to head to MK. I thought about going, really really wanted to go, but made the practical decision that it was just too hot to take Lil to MK at 1:00 in the afternoon. The sacrifices that mother's make. ;) Instead, Lil and I rode on the bus to MK with the rest of the family and then we took the monorail over to BLT. I had wanted to check out the new DVC resort and figured that I could keep her cooler by staying inside.

I had the hardest time trying to figure out how to get out of the Contemporary! The ground floor lobby is so hidden. Once I figured out how to get out of the hotel, we headed over to BLT. The rooms are very nice, but also very small. I also don't like how every entrance requires a key. The place feels like a fortress and is very cold in atmosphere. We have reservations to stay there in March and I'm curious to see how it's like when we are actually staying there.

Woops..baby just woke up from a nap. I'll have to continue this later.
