Live Trip Report: The go home part (Sept 8, 2016)

Love your live reports, you eat some of the most interesting food. Another one who agrees about the mouthwash, that is a first for me too and I've even stayed at Four Seasons. Like the robe, good for those late night runs to the ice machine.

Blazing Saddles was entirely too much fun. It could NEVER be made today. Headed back to the room. A little tired and burnt out now. Update later.

Seated for Blazing Saddles. There are a lot more kids than expected. Do they know that this movie is not exactly kid friendly?

Also, the person next to me smells like vinegar.

I'm surprised that there are a lot of kids, too, for that movie.

I hate vinegar!

Welcome all!

Enjoying your live report! The hotel looks great and I agree with you - I've never seen mouthwash offered in a hotel room before. Anxious to hear how you enjoyed Willa Wonka movie!
So far I'm really pleased with the room. It's quiet. Like almost ridiculously quiet. My room is right by the parking lot, which would normally be annoying and a bit loud. Instead, it's dead silent. I can almost (almost) hear the fireworks from here. I'm a lot closer to Disney than I thought I would be. Willy Wonka was a lot of fun. It was such a different experience to see it in a theater.

I try to eat something at least once, maybe twice. The mouthwash thing really stood out for some reason. It's a nice extra thing on top of an already nice room.
RIP Gene Wilder, love those movies, enjoying your live report!
He was a fantastic actor. Thank you for following along.

I noticed at least three parents taking their kids out after the first fifteen minutes of the movie. It really does dive right in on the cruder stuff. Still, it was so fun!

Ok, day two begins. It's actually beginning late. My intention was to wake up, maybe have breakfast at one of the restaurants on-site and get my day going, but here it is, just after 10 in the morning and I'm just rolling out of bed. Today just happens to be a light day, so me being a bum for the day easily fits into my plans. I really only have one planned out thing today, and that's a 6:30 dinner reservation with some friends at Fogo de Chao. If you haven't heard of it, or haven't been, Fogo de Chao is a Brazilian steakhouse type of place, similar to Texas de Brazil (if you've heard of that one), where there is a continuous barrage of servers who come around with various meats on swords that they carve onto your plate. If you like meat and you like eating, this is a must try at least once. The meats are absurdly good, and the service is phenomenal. I've been waiting for this one for a while.

In the meantime, I'm due for a shower, and then I think I'm going to explore an area called "Restaurant Row". I drove through it on the way to Bay Hill, as it's maybe two miles from here, and I should be able to find a place to find a light lunch. Updates in a bit.

Ok, the body wash at this place smells better than expected. A quick sniff from the bottle had the obvious eucalyptus scent. In use, it smells amazing. I suck at picking out scents, but I detect a hint of fir or something almost Christmas tree like buried in there, and I like it. It leans less unisex and slightly towards a masculine scent. I might even like it enough to actually buy some from the shop (gasp!) if the price isn't ridiculous. Also, the walk in shower is just awesome. I'm so used to doing that stupid step over a useless tub that it feels almost alien to just walk into the shower and just be there. Sounds strange, but it's a strange feeling.

About to head out. Hopefully restaurants are open now. I've got some awful noises coming out of my stomach. The monster needs to be fed.

Sitting at Which Wich, a sandwich place I've not heard of before. The menu looks good, and the location is good. Two positives, right off the bat: they use pellet ice, and there are cops eating here. I've notice cops tend to eat at good places, and pellet ice is superior to cube ice.

This medium sandwich is considerably larger than expected. I'm half way through and I'm feeling full. Awesome!

Ordering a sub from Which Wich:

  • Grab a bag from the slot number for your sub
  • Mark your preferences
  • Bring to register
  • Pay
  • Wait
Simple, effective, easy. I like it!

The sub comes out in your bag. And that's it. I like this place. I wonder if there's one near me.

I accidentally bought slim fit pants. This is my first day wearing them. They look nice, but I'm not used to the feel. It feels like constant static cling on my legs. Gross.

Today is just going to be super light on updates. I drove around after lunch to look at the area and then came back to the room and ended up taking a nice long nap.

Fogo de Chao is next. Lots and lots of meat incoming. After that? Who knows. The weather is taking a turn, with dark clouds above and thunder claps every so often. It doesn't look like it's raining yet, but it looks to be a matter of time.

Onwards!

I think I ate half a cow and two miniature pigs. I'm full to bursting.

The weather sucks tonight, so I may just call it for the evening. I'm not really into slogging through rain and gross weather at the moment. It seems like a perfect day to just relax.

Tomorrow: Disney!

Finally! Disney day is here!

I've showered up and grabbed all of my things. In a couple more minutes I'll check out of Bay Hill, maybe grab some food somewhere, and finally make my way to Disney and the Grand Floridian. I'm absolutely stoked and ready for this one. I will miss the quiet of Bay Hill, but I'm looking forward to a little Disney Magic.

Updates to come. Have a great day!

Check out from Bay Hill was smooth, not that I expected less. After a quick search, I found a Publix to buy the essentials (water, Gatorade, candy) and ended up at TGI Fridays for lunch.

This is the stacked truffle burger. It doesn't look all that great, especially in photos, but man is it tasty. I ordered out and then immediately started regretting not going next door to Fuddruckers, but any regrets disappeared with the first bite. Delicious. Once I wrap this up, Grand Floridian!

Which Wich sounds like a pretty cool place! Was your sandwich good?

Looking forward to the Disney part of your trip.

I've been to a place similar to Which Wich in Chicago, may even have been the same thing. Had a great milkshake there, my sandwich was just so so and the service was horrible. Can't wait to hear about GF.

My sandwich was very good! It was a little heavy on the mayo and mustard, but that's not necessarily a bad thing for me. I strongly considered going back for lunch today to try a different sandwich. Maybe I'll sneak back up there before heading home.

That sucks to hear! If it helps, the service here was fantastic, and the place was very clean. I saw about 6 or 7 police officers have lunch there while I was dining in, which tends to bode well for places.

Disney update to come very shortly.
