Live TR - the 35 night trip!

OP: This is a great family adventure; thanks for letting us all tag along!

you have some very lucky kids....wow they must have been so excited....what memories you are creating!

I am really enjoying your TR. What a wonderful adventure.
I would love to hear more about the house--where you rented from. The one pic. looked like it is in a complex of some sort?? With condos??
Would you share more info about the place?

We found it via. Vacation Rentals By Owner (VRBO). There are actually tons of rentals that are owned by snowbirds - the only downside is that most of them do have a minimum of 1 month rental since they are private homes that the owners just rent part of the year. We are in a lovely gated community. It has both houses and condos - even ocean front condos. It seems like that's the norm for most gated neighborhoods here. It is really quiet - I'd guess that at least 60% of the owners are up north for the summer. I'll take some inside pictures tomorrow.

Here is the master bedroom - it has doors that open onto the pool.

Also, a daybed and California Closet and bathroom w/garden tub.

The kids are still asleep and I am going to try to get some work done. Hope to hit the beach later this morning. It's been raining in the afternoon.

So loving this trip report!! Would love to see more around vero and the complex you are staying at. My mother would probably move down there in a heartbeat but her kids and grandkids are up here in the ATL. Thanks for sharing and more please.

Perhaps if you convinced hervthat you'd visit often....:goodvibes

Okay, I have more Vero pictures in a second. First - the beach!! We spent the morning - till 2:00 at the pool/beach. Walked to DVC and saw so many people at the beach enjoying the sun! There were shells today, and I found sea glass . Also, saw a turtle bobbing offshore. :thumbsup2

storms rolled in this afternoon, so DD and I went shopping. If you have kids on a rainy day, the Vero Book Center is a must do!

They have tons of books, toys, and games. It's a kid paradise.

We ended the day with ice cream! A local told us to try Boardwalk ice cream, a local and indie shop. We loved it. It's right on a public beach, next to the Jaycee park. They are open till 9:30, but are closed Mondays.

I'd read about Bathtub Reef Beach and wanted to go check it out. At first, I thought we made a mistake because it was an hour away. It did not look like much at first, just a normal beach. You could see lots of people snorkeling out where the reef met the open water, but the beach part was not calm or clear ( which is what I had read). Then, we went over to check out the rocks/reef and it was magic. Crystal water filled with shells, fish, sand dollars, and an amazing living reef. We were in awe. We will definitely go back with snorkel gear.

DD and I went to check out the Seaside Farmer's Market. It was fabulous. Highly recommend for VB visitors. Live bluegrass music, smoothies, fresh fruits, salsas, smoothies, juices - and the Bread Man!

Fresh, warm, pecan butterscotch bread.....Mmmmmmmmm

Adding details about the Farmer's Market: I was told it is year-round, Saturdays from 9-12. It's across from Humiston Park. Off A1A, turn left on Dahlia.

Don't eat breakfast before you go - there are lots of breakfast-y stands!!! Also, live bluegrass.

I am going to vero in Sept for the first time and you trip report is making me very impatient....maybey you could be our guide :goodvibes
