Okay, I am totally addicted to the new Tim McGraw song "Live Like You Were Dying" (I am actually listening to it over and over right now, crazy, isn't it!). I know some of you know that I was diagnosed with cancer August 28, 2003, and it has totally given me a new perspective on life, and what is important and what is not. So, tell me this, what is something that you want to do before you pass on? For me, I want to go on a hot air balloon ride and enjoy a picnic lunch while in the air.

(just in case anyone wanted the lyrics....)

He said I was in my early forties
with a lot of life before me
when a moment came that stopped me on a dime
and I spent most of the next days
looking at the x-rays
Talking bout the options
and talking bout sweet time
I asked him when it sank in
that this might really be the real end
how's it hit you when you get that kinda news
man what'd you do

and he said
I went sky diving
I went Rocky Mountain climbing
I went 2.7 seconds on a bull named BluManchu
and I loved deeper and I spoke sweeter
and I gave forgiveness I'd been denying
and he said someday I hope you get the chance
to live like you were dying.

He said I was finally the husband
that most the time I wasn't
and I became a friend a friend would like to have
and all the sudden going fishin
wasn't such an imposition
and I went three times that year I lost my dad
well I finally read the good book
and I took a good long hard look
at what I'd do if I could do it all again

and then
I went sky diving
I went Rocky Mountain climbing
I went 2.7 seconds on a bull named BluManchu
and I loved deeper and I spoke sweeter
and I gave forgiveness I'd been denying
and he said someday I hope you get the chance
to live like you were dying.

Like tomorrow was a gift and you got eternity to think about
what'd you do with it what did you do with it
what did I do with it
what would I do with it'

Sky diving
I went Rocky Mountain climbing
I went 2.7 seconds on a bull named BluManchu
and then I loved deeper and I spoke sweeter
and I watched an eagle as it was flying
and he said someday I hope you get the chance
to live like you were dying.
To live like you were dying
To live like you were dying
To live like you were dying
To live like you were dying

i lovvve that song..just saw him in concert a couple of weeks ago and he was amzing singing that...He got choked up though and couldnt sing a part of it..that song REALLY makes you think..

I love that song! When I first heard it, I cried. I can imagine how moving it is to see Tim sing it in person...(sigh):cloud9:

cinderellafifi--ive wanted to see him FOREVER and finally got tickets..we were about 23 rows back from the stage..he was AMAZING and he looked great !!!!

Didn't catch the whole thing, but i saw part of the video today on CMT. Last half of the song i think. Its one of the best songs I've heard from Tim in awhile.

I knew right off the bat why he wrote it. Its a good video, very moving in a rather simple way. Was nice to see his dad win the World Series 1 more time.

Great song! Although Tim McGraw didn't write it, it was written by song writers Tim Nichols and Craig Wiseman.

This song is so beautiful...and it truly does send a great message, to do things now while you're young and can.

I went 2.7 seconds on a bull named BluManchu

dangit - I've been singing "bull named FuManchu"

heheheheh

GREAT song though

It sounds like a wonderful song.

I don't have one thing I want to do before I die, I just want to live my life to its fullest and not dwell on the bad things in life. I want people to see by the way I live that I love God and life. I don't want to be one of those "always negative" people. They seem so sad! Some days this is hard to do though!!

I know, so had I! I actually went to three different places to find the lyrics, because I was so sure it was Fu Manchu!

ME TOO!! :p

I really like this song. It reminds me of my Dad. He passed away from cancer at 49. He has always been my reminder to live each moment fully and do what I want to do NOW, not to wait.

To answer the OP's question...hmmmm, it's hard to pick just one thing, isn't it? Part of me says I want to travel and see this world before I leave it...part of me says being at home, surrounded by my family is the best place on earth. Maybe I could travel, and take my family with me! ;)
