Live From Wonder 7/7/05

Hi everyone:

Boarded the ship this morning about 11:45 am. They let us start boarding early. DH and I were the first ones to board and go through security. How wonderful that was. Had our pic taken and went to Top Siders for some lunch. Had lots of fruit and shrimp to eat.

We have no idea Dennis is brewing out there. The day is beautiful. The Sail Away party was fantastic. I brought quite a few packages of leis and gave them out to all the children during the Sail Away Party. What a hit that was. So much fun seeing all the children's faces.

Decorated our stateroom door with magnets, streamers and leis. There is no empty spot on the door. Totally covered. Each time we come back to the room, people are standing there reading everything.

The gift for CC returnees was a shopping bag - it is red, white and blue and very large. Also a strap to wear on your back. So much better than the towel. WAY TO GO DISNEY CRUISE LINE.

No bruch for Palo on 3 day cruises. Not going for any nights either. Don't want to miss the dining room.

Hercules the Musical is paying in the Threatre tonight. Will be seeing it after dinner.

I don't think they changed it. Ocean is smooth as glass. Can't feel anything at all. Excellent cruise so far.

There are a lot of children on the cruise. So many people are celebrating birthdays and anniversaries.

I am celebrating being back onboard.

Internet Cafe is not busy at all. Nice to come down and be able to not wait on one.

We have been wearing our 50th Anniversary Golden Mickey Ears all day and are the only ones on the ship with them.

Everyone is asking where they came from. Can't believe they don't seel them on the ship. There would be a bundle of them sold.

How fun to be the only ones with them on.

UPDATE FROM THE WONDER:

We arrived in Nassau this morning. Very windy outside and for those who are on the stingray adventure - and since there is no feeding of the stingrays today because of the wind, they were able to cancel, if they wanted to. Everyone still went and no cancellations, Very hot and beautiful outside.

I had to return to my Stateroom for a few minutes and while I was there, I got a call from the Bridge and the Captain has agreed to let me blow the ship's horn - and - meet with him tonight on the Bridge - SO -

I WILL BE BLOWING THE WONDER'S HORN TONIGHT​

at 7:15 p.m., as we leave Nassau. Am excited about this. Of course, DH will be with me.

I was talking to one of my friends onboard and we were talking about it and they told the Captain and that is when they gave my Stateroom a call.

Oh Kay, how exciting for you?? Have fun ok!! That would totally be my dream to blow a DCL horn. I can dream and maybe someday!!

While this is really very nice for you, the sad part is that not everyone will get a chance to ever do this. Each Captain has different "rules" about it.....usually this is reserved for Make-A-Wish kids and such. The more that people "blow their own horn" and advertise that they have gotten to do this, the more that everyone else will be asking...and sooner or later, NO ONE will be allowed, because it will drive the Captains crazy.
Some things are best left for private celebrating...........​

Thank you for your thoughts. BUT I AM STILL EXCITED, as some of my friends have been excited and we all knew about them blowing the horn. I was excited for them and they are excited for me. Thank you

I'm sure if you were doing it, you would be silent. I don't think so. Let the Captain of each ship make the rules.

I'm certain your friends are excited, and so are you...you should be, it's a fun thing.....
My only point was that maybe you should have PM'd your friends.....I still think that the more people who announce it on the Boards, the more people are going to be on the ships begging to get to do this, too.....and it's going to become a hassle for the CM's. JMHO

AND - I didn't have to sleep over - all over the ship - to get them - nor did I have to get vouchers

There are all types of people in this world and a lot of them should be on an island somewhere away from us sane people

Justmestace- This DIS'er is on vacation and was kind enough to take time out to post about her trip. Wonder trip reports are rare and the live posts even few and farther between. You could have PM'd her your opinion about the horn. You gave your opinion and should have left it at that.

Here's my opinion: You go girl!!!!!

Blow the horn and have a great time doing it. When I cruise the Wonder I will not be asking to blow the horn. Hey I think it is extra cool that you get to do it but that wouldn't be that big of a thing for me. And I love DCL. Actually obsessed. Just not that lucky to be able to afford to go that often. However, everyone has the right to their experience and HOW they want to experience it.

Thank you so much for posting live. I am glad you are having great weather. I hear that Dennis is expected to hit Sunday now. So you should be back and off the ship by that time. Have a great time tonight and enjoy Castaway Cay tomorrow. Have a fruity cocktail on the beach for us (if you drink that is )
