Live from Vero Beach

Say hi to my son and dil. They arrived at Vero on Monday and are just loving it!

I thought they stopped carry out from the restaurants about 6 months ago? Did they start it again when they got the new chef?

We were there last August... so I cannot say whether they stopped this since. I would be really surprised if they refused carry-out... they always acted like it was no problem for the last nine years. I just don't know...

.... Vero Beach is just the best place on earth...

I hope your having a great time at the beach!

If you were picking a beach cottage to stay in which ones would you request?? In case you didn't figure it out, we are staying in one next April.

How is the pool chair situation? Do flip flops and towels still need chairs to sit on at 8am?

I actually was thinking about the beach cottages earlier today! My pick would be either of the ones infront of building 14. Close to the pool!

There have been open pool chairs all day long. No need to get your stuff out early. Plus people seem to come and go all day long, so there are always multiple chairs side-by-side available. There is a sign saying not to leave things unattended for over an hour, or the things will be moved to Eb & Flo's. I actually did see some of the recreation CM's moving stuff the other day.

In my experience VB is never crowded.... it's like you're own beach, along with a couple dozen other friends... Hopefully this will be the case for many years to come. Don't forget to check-out the stuff on the other side of the highway! Maybe even take the trail to Pelican Island... Hope you're having a wonderful time! BTW... you can get carry-out from Sonya's/Shutters and take it to the pool or to your room to enjoy. Have Fun... and enjoy Vero Beach... Disney Style....

We went fishing over at the pond across the street (brought our own pole), and drove back the trail down the road (I'm guessing it was the Pelican Trail... it took us from 510 to A1A).

We went to the Green Cabin Room last night, and saw people get takeout. They served them with the plate and cover, just like room service would deliver it.

Oh! one more question I forgot yesterday...

Is there any construction going on next door? If so is it noticeable?

Great question... The property to the south was sold by Disney to a developer. I am wondering too what is going on there.

I think the take-out ban at Disney is related to the DDP somehow, and VB is not on the plan, so I'm not surprised that they still do take-out. :thumbsup2

They are building $1.6+ million condos next door. It doesn't appear any big construction has begun (can't see the building yet). From what I've seen of the proposed project, it is going to be pretty nice. I have to wonder what it'll look like next to the Disney resort, though.

It sure seemed like a lot of people arrived today. It rained a little yesterday, and this afternoon. Overall, it's been a nice week here, and it's a little sad that the trip is almost over. I'll post some pictures sometime Sunday.

OK....don't laugh.....I'm obviously NOT from the south. What are Love Bugs? Are there certain times of year that bugs (any kind of bugs for that matter) are worse (or better)? I really want to try Vero Beach! We would be limited to school vacations (summer, spring break the last part of March, and Christmas time). That being said, what is the best time???

Love bugs are slow-moving small black, flying insects. They do not sting, bite or buzz. I'm scared of most flying bugs - but I actually used to think they were cute - like caterpillars, and would try to catch them as a kid and let them crawl on me.

They are called love bugs because you usually see them "attached" to each other making little love bugs. They even fly while doing what birds and bees do best.

They're mostly a problem with cars - you kill so many driving that they'll cover windshields and headlights.

Everytime we go in May, they're there. We drove from VB to Orlando Int'l today, the front of the car was covered in them! We had to go to the car wash when we arrived in VB last week, couldn't see out!
