Live from the VWL. "the good, the bad and the double wide strollers"

When in WDW, practice Defensive Walking! It's like driving during Holiday season, people's minds are elsewhere. They're thinking about the attraction they just came off, the next one they are going on and the most important-Where are we going to eat?? I know I've been guilty of being completely clueless in the parks because I'm thinking about what's coming next.

We can't control other people's behavior, we can only control our reactions to it. If I stay alert, then I can minimize the "stroller vs human" and "human vs human" collisions.

Well put.......I like it........ :thumbsup2 .

I can't wait to try WLV. We went there for Whispering Canyon in Nov. We were in a hurry so only looked around the lobby. Even the wardrobe doors from pics I've seen are beautiful!!
About those strollers.....I used the Disney rented ones three yrs ago. It was needed for my 3 and 5 year old in Epcot. (My shoulders were killing me from carrying DD3). I agree with Fitswimmer, everyone just is paying attention to their own "Disney world" and not to any one around them. It's fine as ling as your alert. I think I must of had a world record of saying sorry to everyone around us for a whole day!!!

We did the illumnations cruise last evening, if you get a chance to do it, go for it. Definitely worth the money. Our driver Chris, was spectacular, engaging and even let my sons drive the boat. To which my son says " mom we should get one of these". I'm still trying to visit the world my kids live in, I don't think they allow adults.

Cool! Sounds spectacular. That is on my "to do" list for a future WDW vacation!!!

I too am a Double Wide user. I rent from the park, and be as careful as I can. I can't stand it when people stop short in front of me, and if they aren't paying attention and it's crowded season and they get hit, then it really is their own fault.

Okay, now, does DW mean:

1- Disney Wife?
2 - Dear Wife?
3 - Doublewide?
4 - Defensive Walking?

I am SOOO confused. :rotfl2:

How about DWS..............

Thank you your sharing your report. We love our VWL home and can't wait to return. Reading reports like yours helps me get through to our next visit!

I've been on both sides of the great stroller debate, just not the double wide variety.

It never fails that whenever I'm pushing a stroller, we encounter rude people who cut us off, or make no effort to try to make room for the stroller, or who completely block our ability to easily navigate through the masses.

However, if I am without my granddaughter and stroller, it never fails that we encounter rude people with strollers who don't give people a chance to get out of the way, barge right through our group, try to stroll them onto a crowded bus, or park them in high traffic areas.

We just got back from the world and while we were there we took some time to visit the DVC resorts. The only one we didn't get to visit was BCV, which we will save for our next visit. VWL was absolutely beautiful, and we asked a CM if we could see a room for a few minutes, and they obliged. Very beautiful, and one of my wife's favorites. We will definitely be staying there in the future.

As for the DWS, I am one of those crazy drivers. I am always courteous of others and in our nine day trip I am happy to say I did not run over anybody in our journeys, not even a mouse :rotfl: . You just need to keep your eyes open, use your turn signals and try to anticipate what others will do, which is not always the easiest thing to do. Our son's are a bit older but having the stroller truly helped. I always make it a priority to think of others when pushing the DWS. I actually found it easier to walk as I had something to hold onto as I walked. The doorways were not an issue either, even for my DS5 who pushed it a couple of times.

Hope you enjoy the remainder of your vacation, and watch out for those DWS. :thumbsup2
