Live from the Second Baltic

Thanks Cindy, being on the cruise before you we relived it again! Hopefully there will be someone on each of the next 2 cruises who also share. Sue

I've really enjoyed reading your accounts of this trip. We were booked on it originally but had to cancel. Would have been better to be ON the trip, of course - but your detailed reports were a joy to read. Thanks for taking the time!!
:thumbsup2

Cindy,

Thanks for the reporting! We are gearing up for the July 18 sailing and this thread was so helpful and exciting. Safe travels home to you and your family.

Hi All:

Thanks so much for your lovely words. They are cheering me up this morning. It's just past 8 am and we are pulling into port in Dover. The white cliffs came into view about an hour ago, and DH and I just returned from one last excellent coffee and chat with Ann Marie at Cove Cafe. She offered to hide me in her room for the next trip but warned that the food she'd get me wouldn't be as good. Still, I was tempted.

The farewell show made me cry, I admit it. There were 2 acts in the show, Ron Pearson and a ventriloquist named Tommy who we hadn't had a chance to see before. Both were really very funny, and it felt great to laugh so hard. Dinner was fun, lots of picture taking, and of course the flaming baked Alaskas at the end, followed by the parade of staff and country flags. We had our bags outside at 10:15 (with 15 minutes to spare) and went down to Rockin Bar D for an encore presentation by John Charles, which we loved. Then we got the staff skit, If I Were Not Upon the Sea, and we were howling! It was actually bawdy (DH's word), which was something of a treat. And afterwards, to the room and to sleep.

We're due at Parrot Cay at 8:45 and will be off the ship when they tell us we can be. The sun is pushing through the clouds and we're off to Canterbury for a few hours before heading to Heathrow and home. I know everyone getting on the ship today and on the 18th will have an amazing time, and I really hope you do post, during or after, so we can all read about it and live vicariously through you! Safe travels to all and, of course, faith, trust and pixie dust.

From one Cindy to another, thank you for your posts these last twelve days. We are boarding this afternoon and blogging. You got me thru last week for those crazy days at work and packing. Glad you all had a great time.

Loved reading your posts Cindy:thumbsup2

So glad that they still have the "If I were not upon the sea" skit-that makes for something fun to look forward to before leaving.

Kinda of weird, but I feel sad that my planning is pretty much over and your trip has ended because when my trip starts it means it's the beginning of the end for me as well...

Wish there was a machine where we could just stretch the fun out as much as possible:rolleyes:

Packing this weekend:dance3:

Safe Travels Cindy:hug:

thanks for taking the time to do this report, your making me sad writing about the last day and I'm not even there:lmao:, the last day is really sad.

Just wanted to say thank you for your wonderful report.

We were on the 5th June Repo, that bought the Magic to Dover and I could picture you so well you on board, from your fantastic descriptions.

Have a save journey home.

Kate

Thanks for posting the great trip report. We've been trying to read anything Baltic related that has been posted on Disboards for tips for our 7/18 Baltic. If you can think of anything else, please let us know.

Best of luck with the lotto, my trip report will not be as good as Cindys, but will be over on Facebook.

Firstly thanks again for a great report, the White Cliffs are a wonderful sight, but also will give you thoose Disembarkation morning blues. Just have to book another cruise.

Cindy,

A great big  for your great trip report. We have been living vicariously through you, just dreaming about this wonderful cruise that we will be on in less than 2 weeks. I think we'll all enjoy it a little more because of you.

Thank you!

You guys are the best, really!

So we're home. We had a stupidly easy travel day (why can't traveling TO your vacation be as easy as traveling FROM your vacation), and stopping off in Canterbury on the way was a really good idea. The Cathedral is as amazing as I had remembered, and DH and the DDs really were taken with it. We had lunch in a lovely tea shop called The Moat Tea Rooms, which I recommend if anyone is making the trip, and then headed to Heathrow. No traffic, easy check-in, flight took off right away and landed 35 minutes EARLY at JFK, not a long wait at customs or baggage claim, and no traffic whatsoever heading home from the airport. Absurd (but I think the city is quiet because of the holiday just ended). The heat is extraordinary (the city set a record yesterday at 103 degrees F), and we are missing the weather in the UK and all over Northern Europe almost as much as we miss everything about the cruise.

Very happy for those on the cruise that's now at sea heading to Oslo, and for you guys counting down to the 18th, you know it's going to be amazing. Andrew, I'll be watching for you on Facebook, and watching the boards for anyone posting on the Baltics. Being on this website right now makes me feel closer to the ship and the wonderful vacation we just had.

Hello and Thank you for your report, you did a great job and was very informative. I enjoyed it very much. So, I have a question for you... Our flight leaves Heathrow at 4pm and I would love to do something before heading to the airport. If we went to Canterbury, would we have enough time for a 4pm flight? and if so what would be the best way of getting there? We have transportation from the port to Heathrow but maybe they can drop us off short or something... I don't even know where Canterbury is, I will check it out though. Tell me your thoughts.
Kay
